It's not an error. That coin is old enough that the reeding has probably worn off, and/or been subject to some other kind of alteration.

At 92.5% purity (sterling silver), with silver spot price at about $20, the quarter is worth about $3.50. Numismatic value may make the coin more valuable, but if it is worn it is considered "junk" or "scrap" silver. Still a good find if you can get it!

Actually about $100 if it is a proof or specimen coin as these are 50 percent silver the non-proof version is 99.9 percent nickel making it less valuable. They are a nice coin and hard to come by but who ever put $1000 is a bit off

Your penny has almost certainly been plated with either silver, nickel, or zinc -- making it a novelty item with very little collector value. I would suggest sending it to CCCS or ICCS only if the coin looks as if it is in really good condition, as the cost of grading is around 10$ per coin unless you are interested in getting the quality of many coins graded as then the total price comes down for grading.

No national government has ever issued wooden nickels. They are usually from businesses, occasionally from a community, and are an advertisement. They have also been "issued" by political candidates, but these do not have a monetary value except as a collectable.

All US nickels except the 1942-45 "war nickels" are struck in an alloy composed of 25% nickel and 75% copper.

During WWII nickel was needed for the war effort, so from mid-1942 to the end of 1945 "nickels" didn't contain any nickel. They were made of an alloy of 35% silver, 9% manganese and 56% copper.

Canadian nickels are currently made of nickel-plated steel, but were previously struck from pure nickel. During WWII and for short periods thereafter they were made of various metals including stainless steel and a copper alloy called tombac.

Sorry, but Canada hasn't issued a penny with a pig on it. The 1988 penny has the Queen on one side and maple leafs on the reverse. Bermuda issued a penny with a pig, so you likely ended up with one of them as your change.
