The main one is to look at the last "A" in "Gratia" on the obverse, and if the last "A" is pointing at a denticle instead of between a denticle then your coin is worth around 40 - 500 $ If your coin is pointing between denticles, then it is common and worth a couple dollars, unless it is a very high grade.

Small Beads Variety - On the right side of the queens face is the inscription D.G. Regina. If you take a close look at the periods after the "D" and the "G" of this inscription and compare their size to the size of the beads, the beads are noticeably smaller than the periods after the "D" and the "G".

Large Beads Variety - In this variety, the beads surrounding the rim are at least the same size or larger than the periods after the "D" and "G".

If you do have a small beads variety its extremely rare and is worth anywhere from $1,300 to $7,300 depending on the condition and strike of the coin.

It's too new and too common to have any collector value, so it's only worth the current exchange rate.

It's not an error. That coin is old enough that the reeding has probably worn off, and/or been subject to some other kind of alteration.

Actually about $100 if it is a proof or specimen coin as these are 50 percent silver the non-proof version is 99.9 percent nickel making it less valuable. They are a nice coin and hard to come by but who ever put $1000 is a bit off

That was a penny minted in 1992 for Canada's 125th anniversary of Confederation; the KG stands for Kruger Gray, who was the designer of Canada's first series of coins.

Your penny has almost certainly been plated with either silver, nickel, or zinc -- making it a novelty item with very little collector value. One common bit of "fun" kids used to have would be to dip a copper penny into mercury. This resulted in a silvery plating that was attractive at first, but later turned quite dull. No national government has ever issued wooden nickels. They are usually from businesses, occasionally from a community, and are an advertisement. They have also been "issued" by political candidates, but these do not have a monetary value except as a collectable.

The original asking price of this commemorative dollar in 1980 was $22, unfortunately you won't get more than that out of it today as long as silver stays at the price it is at.
