There's officially no American coin called a "penny". That's the name of a coin used in Britain, as well as being used in the past by many of the countries that were part of the British Empire. However, for historical reasons the name "penny" has also always been used to refer to American and Canadian 1-cent coins.

Because the U.S. was once a British colony (1776 and all that stuff) the term was in common use when the country became independent and established its own 100-based coinage system. At that time one-cent coins were much larger than they are today. They were about the same size as the one-penny coins used in England, so out of habit and familiarity the new 1-cent coins were commonly referred to as "pennies". The situation was similar in Canada, which also used large one-cent coins.

The name was so widely used that it stuck even after modern small-size cents were introduced. Thus we all still call cents "pennies" even though that's never been their correct name.

1903 is not a rare year (regardless of mintmark) and if in average circulated condition it is worth about $6 for the silver. If in better condition it can be worth quite a bit, but if it is fairly worn, a collector will really only give you melt for it.

The coins are valued at a price ranging from $25 to $50. The exact price will depend upon the condition of the coin.

1957D Wheat Penny: In very fine condition is worth $0.05, uncirculated is worth $0.20.

There was never a $.25 coin ever minted in gold. If it is in fact a quarter, the color you're seeing might be from what is called "toning", which is a natural process that occurs when metals are exposed to the elements. Although, generally silver will turn shades of purple, blue or gray, it is possible it might turn a goldish tone. Now, you might also be referring to a $2.50 gold piece (commonly referred to as a "Quarter Eagle"). If you're comparing the coin to an American nickel, it's important to know what "upside down" means. US coins are minted with the back side rotated 180 degrees versus the front, while Canadian coins have both sides oriented the same direction. That is, if you flip the two coins side to side as if you were turning the page of a book, the back side of a US coin will be point in the opposite direction while the back side of a Canadian coin will point in the same direction.

If the two sides of a 1979 Canadian nickel are pointing the same way, it's only worth 5 cents. If they're pointing in opposite directions (like a US coin) you could have what's called a rotated-die error. In that case the nickel should be inspected in person by a dealer who works with error coins.

According to The History Channel, the Avro-Canada factory was thoroughly infiltrated by the KGB, and it was considered a security leak. Curiously, the General Dynamics F102 Delta Dagger and F106 Delta Dart bore an amazing resemblance to the Arrow. The difference was that the Arrow was a genuine two-place strategic interceptor. The F102 and F106 were flown from the ground, with pilot as a backup.

Many US one cent coins are worth more than $400.00 and too many exist to list. Get a copy of Red Book it has values of all US coins.

There is no such thing as a 1942 Canadian silver dollar.

"Georgivs V" would indicate that the coins are from the British Empire during the reign of George V, around the beginning of the 20th century. Most countries in the Empire, including the U.K. itself, did not use decimal denominations in those days so my next question would be to ask if they're similar in size to a U.S. dime and quarter. If so, that would mean they are from Canada. That's also consistent with the date and country being worn off because Canadian coins of that era had design problems that resulted in excessive wear.

Unfortunately, without a date your coins are worth only their metal value, maybe $1 for the 10-cent coins and $2.50 or $3.00 for the 25-cent ones.

You are going to have to be a lot more specific. In 1923 just about every coin other than the penny and nickel struck for circulation in the US had a personification of Liberty on them. For example, there were winged liberty (Mercury) dimes, Standing Liberty quarters, Walking Liberty half-dollars and Peace Dollars. All of them had Lady Liberty on them. The value of them depends dramatically on what coin you have.

1918 is a relatively common date for Canadian large cents. On average, one is worth around two dollars.

It wouldn't have any wheat on it because wheat cents were made by the US, not Canada.

The coin has two "tones" because it's bi-metallic. The outer ring is copper-nickel and the inner core is brass. The US is one of the few countries that doesn't make bi-metallic coins so those from other countries may seem unusual.

In any case the Canadian "Twonie" (or "toonie") is a common circulation coin so if you found it in change it's only worth face value.

Assuming you have the year correct, then you have what is known as a state note, broken bank note, or obsolete note. The value will be based on the rarity of the issuing bank. It could be $20, or it could be $2,000.

A Canadian one dollar coin (a "loonie") is 1.75mm thick and 26.5mm in diameter (actually it is not round - rather,it has 11 curved sides - but the difference should be minimal for our purposes here). If your question is "How many loonies in a stack of coins one meter high?", then the answer is 1000/1.75 = 571.43, or about 571. If your question is "How many loonies laid end to end would be needed to stretch one meter?", then the answer is 1000/26.5 = 37.74, or about 38.
