Care of Turtles

I think it depends on how big the turtles are.

Make sure first that you are eliminating any other possbilities for your babys reason for not eating. Does he have a sunning area? Is there enough water in your tank? Also make sure check the water temperature. Normal temp should be between 82-85F for sick or young turtles. A sustained temp. between 65-72F can contribute to loss of appetite and cause respiratory infection. Try small live feeder fish. Crickets only as a treat. Chopped green beans, carrot tops, dandelion. Make sure is is getting enough calcium and minerals. Cuttlebones are good.

Pretty much anything, But usually they crave meet, or fish in that manner.

As they grow they develop more, and more to plant's and veggies.

But for now just feed them any circumstance under the previous list.

1. Crab meet

2. Worm's (chopped is easer for them to swallow.)

3. Hot dog ( Once again chopped, easer to swallow.)

Just feed them that, and they should be good to go!

they dont hibernate they brumate. In the wild they start brumating in October when the temperature reaches below 10 °C (50 °F) and they come back up in March. In captivity they cant brumate at room temperature.

You don't need a filter for the tank. But if you don't have one, you will have to change the water every week, or every other week at least. When you have a filter -- like the Whisper filter -- you only have to change the water a few times a year.

First find a good lake, creek, river or stream that your sure has turtles in it, depending on what type of turtle your looking for get turtle food sticks you can get them at your local pet store, grind them into powder then sprinkle it on meat, it doesnt really matter what kind of meat turtkey works really good. then take the meat and put it on a river bank wait awhile and hide, eventually a turtle will come make sure the turtle isn't big enough to bite ur fricken head off, then go and book it and catch the little guy. remember if your going to keep him find out if it's legal first and find out their tank requirements, if not always return something where you found it, (expecially your friends wallet) good luck

The sea turtle's limbs are flippers adapted for swimming. The forelimbs are long and paddle-like and the hind flippers serve as rudders, stabilizing and directing the turtle as it swims.

I live in NJ and I suddenly fell in love with the idea of having a pet turtle. I already knew the amount of care and effort you need to put into them but I dont know where i can purchase one. (pet store recommended.)

The answer depends on where you live. Obviously, one kind of turtle may survive in a pond in Florida but not in a pond in Maine, while another may be the exact opposite. Some species may also be illegal in your state or town. Some generally hardy and common pond turtles are red-eared sliders, snapping turtles, and painted turtles. Painted turtles have several subspecies across the country, mostly based on their distribution, so finding one to fit your climate shouldn't be that difficult.

No because all turtles eyes are the same unless it is albino but if it is albino it had red eyes all species of turtles have the same eyes

Well, red ear sliders can get 14 inches while map turtles at the largest are around 8 to 10 inches. Have two large ponds in Florida and have six turtles. Soft turtles can get huge and grow to the size of what environment they are living in. Have one in its own pond almost two feet round.

Yes, you can and you should. Tap water should never be used in a turtle tank. Use Brita filtered water, or, if you can afford it, fill the tank with Poland Spring.

Aquatic turtles, such as red-eared sliders, live for several decades, and can potentially outlive human beings. I remember reading an article about the oldest known aquatic turtle still alive in the United States; it was around 60 years old (almost as old as its owner). I tried to find the article again, but I couldn't. Sorry.

Sea turtles can live even longer; it is not unusual for them to live well past 100 years old.

I had a turtle and i spent about 100 $ on him in one visit of the pet store. I got him water falls grass plants, you name it. And soon enough I found out that turtles love to dig or burro. His whole habitat was destroyed. Into wreckage that you couldn't believe a turtle not even 6 in. long could do. so i wouldn't recommend too nice of a habitat.

Usually, at least with most land turtles, males have red or brown eyes while females have yellow eyes.
