Edinburgh once had a moat, which is now called "Princes Street Gardens". The moat was used as a dumping ground for sewerage in the city, not limited to human sewerage and blood and guts from the butchers. This was also used as the city's water supply (yes, really). There were wells around the city, though they were equally in danger of developing cholera from the drinking wells.

Malahide Castle is near the town of Malahide, which is close to the city of Dublin in Ireland. The Castle is open to visitors and is a big tourist attraction.

they accessed water by carrying buckets of water from a nearby lake or river.if they were very lucky they might have a well that was able to give continual source of water.also if they were in an area where there was rain quite a lot they got clever and collected the rain for use.it sounds a bit silly but that is what they did as that was something that was very important to them as it helped the survive.

There are other considerations such as insurance, unions, environmental, local, state, and federal organizations that will have a say through out the project surely adding a bit to the estimate. So... A projected 5-7 year build will now take nearly 10 and costs will rise. Therefore I estimate, all said and done, keys in your hand, conservative estimate of $579 Million USD. But you better plan on $800 - 950 Million in 2023 dollars.

Himeji Castle is a hilltop, Azuchi-Momoyama style castle, and is 152 feet tall. The castle was expanded three times after it was originally built, and is current undergoing some restoration work to preserve it.

The Shell Keep Castle. After the Year 1100 another change in the way castles were designed took place. The old square keeps were not so good because it was easy to dig underneath the corners of the keep and make it fall down. Instead they started to build castles with one set of round walls.
