If it came out of a Cavalier....Yes,they are the same. But other model's, like an Alero, No. This one has a different gear ratio and it will confuse the computer and set off trouble codes(check engine light)

Vacuum leak,(to check vacuum lines just disconnect them one at a time at the throttle body and put your finger on the vacuum port on the throttle body and see if the idle corrects) Leaking EGR valve (but that model year dont have one) air filter clogged, Fuel pump not pushing the correct pressure (key on,engine not running 41-47psi...engine idling w/regulator vac. hose connected 31-44psi...vac. hose disconnected 42-50psi), Leaking head gasket, camshaft worn, and also the Idle Air Control Valve(on the very front of the throtle body) remove and clean any carbon/dirt off the pintel and pintel seat. But my guess would be the fuel pressure is low

If you have already replaced the plugs and wires, your best bet would be to replace the coil pack housing(big white housing under cover). Those are notorious for failing in the late model z24s. I had the same problem with my 97 and afterwards it ran fine.

Im not exactly sure what you're asking but I will try to tell you what I think might help. If someone has tampered with your vehicle, your fuel pump will shut itself off to prevent theft. So if your vehicle is starting up and running for a split second then stalling out, you might have had someone tampering with it (I know from experience). Just unhook both battery terminals for a couple minutes to give your computer plenty of time to clear itself. Reconnect the terminals and you should be in business. Anytime you have computer probs like anti-theft and sensors, unhooking your battery and rehooking it will reset your computer.
Sometimes that will work. If the anti theft light is flashing what you need to do is appy the emergency brake and start the the car and let it stall. The anti theft light will start to flash. Do not touch anything!!! Within 10-15 mins the light will light solid and you are safe to start and drive.

With this engine,it is impossible to put it in backwards.The spring wont fit down in that black metal tube.But the spring faces up towards the exhaust manifold. Just remember that with all engines,the spring will face towards the engine block because it needs to know the coolant temp. inside the block.

The car has to be jacked up and level. The engine needs to be warm and running in Park. Remove threaded plug (11mm socket) adjacent to the oil pan. If no fluid runs out add fluid (red screw cap on top of transmission) until it starts dripping out the hole at the bottom. The Hayes manual says the car should not be running. That is not correct. If you don't have the car running and let the fluid out as the directions say you will be about a quart and a half low. The car must be in park and running.

Do this...Be sure the coolant is 50/50 and full...be sure to burp the air from the system by leaving cap off until the air comes out then put cap on,,,when the engine goes cold again it will suck coolant so refill before starting. When you are sure the system is full,start the engine, stand there and watch where it comes out,it should only take a few mins. If the radiator cooling fan comes on and spins quickly and it comes out the overflow tube get a new cap. The cap is not holding the proper pressure. Dont drive it hot,the head will crack or even worse !!! If that dont fix it, think about the water pump, clogged radiator or a bad head gasket. But you must see where it leaks at...good luck

No...That sensor is a pressure sensor.(located next to the condensor) It will not let the compressor run if the pressure is to low or to high,so the compressor wont be damaged. If it is unplugged the compressor wont come on at all.
