How long does it take to change a fuel pump in a 1998 Chevy cavalier?
I would say a whole day, considering you have to drop the fuel tank, find enough space to drop the tank, and then get it back up there. Not a fun job to do.

How do you replace the water pump on a 1997 Chevy Cavalier 2.4L?
Caution:On models with a Delco Loc 2 or Theftlock audio system be sure the lockout feature is turned off before proceeding * Disconnect the negative battery cable * Drain the cooling system * Remove the cooling fan then remove the serpentine drivebelt 2.2L OHV Engine * Remove the water pump pulley from the front of the water pump * Remove the coolant reservoir hoses * Detach the water pump retaining bolts and remove the pump from the vehicle 2.3L And 2.4L OHC Engines * Disconnect the oxygen sensor harness connector * Raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands * Remove the exhaust manifold brace and loosen the exhaust manifold bolts * Remove the radiator outlet pipe assembly to the water pump housing bolts and separate the assembly from the engine * Remove the exhaust manifold pipe from the exhaust manifold * Remove the radiator outlet pipe from the oil pan.On manual transaxles cars remove the exhaust manifold brace and keep the radiator inlet hose attached to the assembly.Pull down on the radiator outlet pipe in order to disengage the pipe from the water pump while leaving the radiator outlet pipe hanging * Lower the car remove the brake booster vacuum hose from the camshaft housing also remove the exhaust manifold from the cylinder head * Remove the timing chain cover from the engine * Remove the timing chain tensioner * Remove the water pump cover bolts from the engine block and the timing chain housing * Remove the water pump bolts and separate the assembly from the housing

Do this...Be sure the coolant is 50/50 and full...be sure to burp the air from the system by leaving cap off until the air comes out then put cap on,,,when the engine goes cold again it will suck coolant so refill before starting. When you are sure the system is full,start the engine, stand there and watch where it comes out,it should only take a few mins. If the radiator cooling fan comes on and spins quickly and it comes out the overflow tube get a new cap. The cap is not holding the proper pressure. Dont drive it hot,the head will crack or even worse !!! If that dont fix it, think about the water pump, clogged radiator or a bad head gasket. But you must see where it leaks at...good luck

No...That sensor is a pressure sensor.(located next to the condensor) It will not let the compressor run if the pressure is to low or to high,so the compressor wont be damaged. If it is unplugged the compressor wont come on at all.
Why would a 1989 cavalier z24 after getting warmed up the car start jerking and then stops?
Similar situation happened two separate occasions my cure was plugs & wires & then a distributor. Yes,that is one possibility.But,there are many things that would cause that.Low fuel pressure is another.Then it could be a crank sensor or a cam sensor. It could also be the ICM.When they get old or get to hot they will quit on you. But fuel pumps go out in many different ways.Such as melting plug, pump gives up after it warms up, and just going totally out and stop pumping.Before buying parts you dont need,check the fuel pressure.I once worked on a Ford Tempo with bad fuel pressure.After swaping 3 pumps,I found the bottom of the plastic bowl that it sits in would buckel up and press against the fuel inlet shutting off the fuel after the fuel in the tank got warm from the return line.
