The US once tried to outlaw alcoholic beverages, it was called prohibition. Outlawing alcohol created a huge underground business in alcohol trade that was run by criminals who became very rich because they did not pay taxes on the sale of the alcohol. The amendment that outlawed alcohol was finally repealed. The alcohol industry was again in the hands of legitimate businesses who paid the taxes.

The government knows that the same thing will happen if cigarettes are outlawed. Currently, the state and federal governments collect large sums of money (cigarettes are one of the highest taxed items sold in the US) from the legitimate sale of cigarettes.

Dry socket is caused by a bacterial infection, not by smoking. While smoking causes a number of problems, dry socket is not one of them.

I respectfully have to disagree with the answer above. Smoking can indeed cause dry socket. In fact, it is one of the biggest causes of dry socket. Dry socket occurs when the blood clot inside the empty tooth socket is dislodged and the bone is exposed. This, in turn, can lead to infection and LOTS of pain. The suction from when you pull and take a drag from the cigarette can dislodge the clot - just like sucking on a straw. The dentist I work for always tells her patients not to smoke or use a straw for AT LEAST 48 hours. Also, the smoke from the cigarette can irritate the empty socket and can increase the likelihood of infection and/or dry socket. Now you asked if smoking one cigarette can cause it - probably not, but be very careful as you take a drag. Minimal force/suction. Be sure to rinse your mouth immediately after smoking (Very gently..just slowly move your head from side to side to move the water around. If its 24hrs past the extraction you can use a salt water rinse - 1/2tsp salt dissolved in 1 cup warm, but not too warm, water). One person I know even took some damp gauze and placed it over (not packed into) the extraction site to keep it covered and "protected" from the irritation of the smoke. I'd start by saying, "You shouldn't smoke any cigarette," but that's not why you're here. If it's been dried, it will smoke, but the taste will be a lot worse than normal, and the burn may be quite a bit faster. Of course, that's only if you smoke chemically altered cigarettes. If you smoke naturals, they should be all right.

Yes and No. In July 2010, our representatives voted for an Act called PACT, which was aimed directly at restricting free trade between the States and especially with the Indians. There are many exceptions to the Act, plus those added later, most notably the one that allows our troops overseas to receive their cigarettes through a more affordable class of U.S. mail service. Of course, we as the People can mail freely to each other outside the restrictions of business, birthday gifts etc..

Personally, from my vacation, I always bring back a suitcase full of smokes. In customs I pay a fee for every carton over my limit but, it's still way less than the price in my home town, otherwise TobaccoTrain when I run out.

as a human i would recommend not because it may hurt a Lot .the only reason pandas can eat it is because they have a special coting in there digestive system so they cant get splinters or anything.

If we had known how harmful tobacco was in the days when people first began to use it, I believe that cigarettes too would be prohibited. As it is, it is useless to bolt the stable door once the horse has escaped! One can only hope to get people off cigarettes by gradual legal restrictions as to where they can safely smoke, by banning advertising and by education and persuasion.
