How much does it hurt to get circumcised?

Yes, getting circumcised hurts. Circumcision in boys and adults has a very painful two to three week recovery period following the surgery. Even in the best recovery, you can expect severe pain, especially if you happen to get an erection any time in the first two weeks.

Newborn infants are circumcised without anesthesia. During the surgery they are strapped down to a special table, and without any numbing or anesthesia, the foreskin is cut off. Newborn infants have full sensation, just like adults. Circumcision, like any surgery, also has risks of adverse medical events including surgical error, infection, prolonged bleeding, and of course severe pain.

Why Paul in the bible circumsized Timothy after he preached against circumcision?

Paul wanted converts to his new religion. Requiring that people mutilate their genitalia in order to gain admittance to a religion was not a way to get people on board.

Besides religious reasons what is the purpose of male circumcision?

Today no major medical association recommends the routine circumcision of infants. In the early 20th century circumcision was promoted as a way to help keep the penis clean; however this view is no longer supported by physicians. Most boys can not retract their foreskin until around age 3. This is normal. Once the boy can retract the foreskin he should wash the head of his penis just like any other part of the body like between the legs or behind the ears. All that is needed to keep the penis clean is to wash when taking a shower or bath. Circumcision was originally popularized in the United States in the 19th century as a method to keep young boys from masturbating. While circumcision does make it more difficult and less pleasurable to masturbate, it was not effective at getting boys to stop doing it. In the 21st century, campaigns have been in place to prevent routine female genital mutilation (also known as female circumcision) common in certain parts of Africa. This movement has identified human genital integrity as a human rights issue and has come to oppose human genital mutilation in both males and females. While western physicians are horrified by the routine removal of the labia in female circumcision in Africa, many continue to routinely practice circumcision on their infant male patients. In the United States in the 1970s and 1980s around 80% of male infants were circumcised. By 2007 the rate of circumcision in the United States was below 40%. In increasing numbers, both parents and physicians are deciding to avoid circumcision of their newborn infants.

Why aren't jews circumcised?

Almost all male Jews are circumcised.

The origin of Jewish circumcision is in the Torah, which is the foundation of Judaism. God told Abraham "every male among you shall be circumcised" as part of the covenant between God and the Jewish people (Genesis ch.17). Since that time, virtually all Jews have observed the command of circumcision for close to four millennia, even in times of religious persecution under the Greeks, Romans, Spaniards, and Soviets. Circumcision is the indelible sign of God's covenant and is just as important as Yom Kippur in terms of the stringency which the Torah places upon it. And similar to Yom Kippur, it is one of the observances which are common to Orthodox, Conservative and Reform Jews alike.
It may be noted that while we do not keep God's commands because of physical benefits, it is still interesting that circumcision has been known to offer virtually complete protection from penile cancer. According to a recent article in the New England Journal of Medicine, none of the more than 1,600 persons studied with this cancer had been circumcised in infancy. In the words of researchers Cochen and McCurdy, the incidence of penile cancer in the U.S. is "essentially zero" among circumcised men. Also, research at Johns Hopkins University Medical School in Baltimore have shown that circumcised men are six to eight times less likely to become infected with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. Researchers believe that protection is due to the removal of the foreskin, which contains cells that have HIV receptors which scientists suspect are the primary entry point for the HIV virus (Reuters, March 25, 2004).
Several studies reported that circumcised boys were between 10 to 39 times less likely to develop urinary tract infections during infancy than uncircumcised boys. In addition, circumcision protects against bacterial, fungal, and parasitic infections and a variety of other conditions related to hygiene.
The extremely low rate of cervical cancer in Jewish women (9 to 22 times less than among non-Jewish women) is thought to be related to their husbands' being circumcised. As a result of studies like these, a number of prestigious medical organizations such as the California Medical Association have recognized the benefits of circumcision.
As an operation, circumcision has an extremely small complication rate. A study in the New England Journal of Medicine (1990) reported a complication rate of 0.19 percent when circumcision is performed by a physician. When performed by a trained mohel, the rate falls to 0.13 percent or about 1 in 800. When a complication occurs, it is usually due to the bleeding, which is easily correctable. No other surgical procedure can boast such figures for complication-free operations.
One reason why there are so few complications involving bleeding may be that the major clotting agents, prothrombin and vitamin K, do not reach peak levels in the blood until the eighth day after a baby is born. Prothrombin levels are normal at birth, drop to a lower level in the next few days, and return to normal at the end of the first week. One study showed that by the eighth day, prothrombin levels reach 110 percent of normal. In the words of Dr. Armand J. Quick, author of several works on the control of bleeding, "It hardly seems accidental that the rite of circumcision was postponed until the eighth day by the Mosaic law."

Does a circumcision make you a Jew?

There are four main branches of Judaism. They all believe the same things but to different levels of observance:

  • Reform - Least observant, but still spiritual.
  • Conservative - Mix between Reform and Orthodox
  • Orthodox - Strict observance of the laws of Judaism
  • Hasidic - Very strict observance of all the laws of Judaism

Some Reform groups don't require male circumcision as part of the conversion process, but this is a minority attitude. All others, including most Reform congregations, include circumcision in the conversion process.

NOTE:
1) If a male is already circumcised, there is a ceremony called a "symbolic circumcision" in which a mohel takes a drop of blood.
2) Mohels perform circumcision, but doctors and rabbis can also be trained as mohels.

Should you get circumcised?

Deciding whether or not to get circumcised is rarely a personal decision.

There have been studies done and it has been proven that whether a guy is circumcised or not has a definite effect on his pleasure and that of his partner while having sex.

If you're talking about child circumcision, its a different story. If you are Jewish, then at 8 days old it is required, so yes. If you're Islam, it is required (normally) from about 5 years to 14 years to do so, so yes, probably. In most other cases, I would say no. At least let your son grow to be about 13 so he can understand the surgery and put in an input himself.

Can you remove your own foreskin?

The actual need to remove foreskin is very rare indeed. There is in fact no medical reasoning behind the concept of circumcision. The foreskin is an important part of the function of the penis and should be left alone. Most circumcisions are done for religious and cultural reasons. the marketing of circumcision in the US is still big business as is the trade in baby foreskins for various medical and cosmetic products. Male Genital Mutilation is an unnecessary part of life and the sooner it is totally abolished the better.

Is sex still fun when you're circumcised?

How much does it cost for an adult to get circumcised?

Circumcision with general anesthesia should cost between $2000 and $3000 depending on where you live. This cost includes the doctor performing the procedure and the anesthesiologist.

As circumcision is not a medically necessary procedure, it will not be covered by most health insurance plans so you will have to pay for the full cost yourself.

Circumcision has no known medical benefit, and routine circumcision is not recommended by any major medical association. Most doctors recommend against circumcision because of the possible adverse events following the surgery, including prolonged bleeding, infection, moderate to severe pain, and long term decrease in penile sensitivity and sexual pleasure.

What are the risk factors associated with infant male circumcision?

Infants with certain deformities, or with a large hydrocele, or hernia, premature infants or with serious infections, with hemophilia, other bleeding disorders, or whose mothers had taken anticoagulants.

Should you get your foreskin removed?

No, the frenulum has a lower chance of being torn if it is left intact after a circumcision if you think it can be torn regardless. The frenulum is the most erogenous zone of the male body, the removal of it is an abomination. If you remove the frenulum, you destroy the male's ability to have the amount of pleasure he would normally have.

Circumcision should be done only a as LAST RESORT. Circumcision in general reduces sensitivity and removes perfectly healthy tissue. If a male has phimosis, then other methods may be used, circumsision is not necessary. It violates human rights and mutilates the penis. It's just a no brainier: if you are pro-unnecessary circumcision, you are a psychopath.

What is the process of female circumcision?

Circumcision is the surgical removal or amputation of the prepuce or foreskin from over the head of the penis. The prepuce or foreskin is a retractable layer of highly enervated flexible skin that has a fine layer of mucosal membrane on the inside designed to protect the penis glans and also enhance the pleasure of sex and masturbation. this organ is the male counterpart of the labia and the mucosal tissue found in the woman. Reasoning behind it being done has always been religious or cultural aside from it being taken up in English speaking country's under the mistaken belief that it would stop boys from masturbating which in turn would cause more then a hundred different diseases. There are no appreciable health benefits from this procedure.

Is it good to be circumcised?

It is good to leave the genitalia intact. 80% of the men of the world are intact and would no more think of having their genital mutilated then having any other part of their body cut of. the the iner mucous membrane of the foreskin protects the glans penis from becoming desensitised by constant friction on underwear, it maintains the the moisture and texture of the mucous membrane that covers the glans itself. it protects the penis against infection , especially in the times when children are not yet toilet trained, it has within it more then 20,000 nerves that play an important roll in sexual pleasure in both intercourse and in masturbation. it play a part in improving the sexual pleasure of the woman during sex. It prevents problems with the lubrication required between male and female sexual union. not to mention the fact that people that are circumcised have a myriad of possibility's of penile dysfunction that would not ever have happened if it had been left alone.

Why is it a pradtice to remove to the foreskin?

If you ask a urologist to do this procedure of circumcision, they will only do it for the following reasons. Since it cannot be done for any other reasons than the following, then these are the only reasons why this procedure should be done. They can do a circumcision if it is oriented upon religious belief. The other reason is for complications from foreskin abnormalities such as a foreskin which cannot be retracted. Your personal preference cannot be a reason, especially reasons pertinent to sexual life or love life. They will otherwise only do it if it can be a cure to a problem with the foreskin like cancer or removal of infections do to a sexually transmitted desease.

How does circumcision prevent penile cancer?

Circumcision does not prevent penile cancer. Cancer still occurs in circumcised men, and in the United States most men with penile cancer are circumcised. However, circumcision might offer a very slight reduction of risk of penile cancer because it removes part of the penis, the foreskin. This slightly reduces the risk because part of the penis, the foreskin, is surgically removed, and since part of the penis is removed, it can't get cancer. There are very good reasons to keep the foreskin though. The foreskin is rich in nerve endings, that provide pleasure during sex, and the foreskin also protects the delicate head of the penis, keeping it moist and sensitive.

Why do boys have to get circumcision?

Sikh Boys Are Not Circumcised!!!

very true, Sikh boys are not circumcised because Sikhs believe in living life the way God made them. No changes, that's why they don't cut their hair and wear turbans, God gave them hair and it was a blessing so the men use the turbans to just keep it under control. God had made men with an uncut penis and they believe who are we to change what he created so they leave as uncut
