How do you changeair bag on peterbilt 379 sleeper?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It's really quite easy, although you will need a means of either lifting or jacking up the chassis when you install the new one.

Disconnect the air lines going to the air bag. Unbolt the air bag from the top and bottom... the top is usually two small bolts, and it'll be a larger bolt on the bottom. Off the top of my head, I don't remember exactly what size they are.

The old air bag will pull right out at this point.

Clean off the air fitting threads with a wire brush.

Install the new air bag... before reattaching the air fittings, make sure you put some thread tape or liquid thread sealer on them. To install the new air bag, you'll have to either jack up the chassis or lift it up... at work, I use an overhead crane for this.

Reinstall the bolts. The smaller top bolts should be torqued to 20 - 25 ft./lbs. and the larger bolt on the bottom should be torqued to around 50 ft./lbs.

about4.2km

Updated answer,

4.2km, and how far can you go with a carbon fiber tank full of compressed air, this is what MDI has been trying to find the answer to, and to a point they have found the answer. Clean cars google MDI compressed air cars, and see what they are trying to achieve.

A car to clean the air of cities, yes it may be inefficient, but would you drive an inefficient car if it did not pollute the air you breath.

Petrol cars were inefficient when they were first developed, have a look "Get Behind the Compressed air car and maybe you'll breath"

What is the difference between Upfitting and Refitting Fleet Vehicles?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

If you went to the dealer and bought a "cab chassis"--just the frame rails sticking out behind the cab--then took it to Dixie Upfitting and had it turned into a refrigerated box van, it would have been upfitted. If you went to the same dealer, bought a used dump truck, then took that truck to Dixie Upfitting and had it turned into a refrigerated box truck, it would have been refitted.
