Because the manufactures found that people would buy more Ink Jet printers if they lowered the price so they then raised the price of Ink to make up for the difference in money they lost making the printer.

Someone recently estimated the cost of Ink the printer manufactures sell to us is close to $1,000,000 a barrel! The ink is almost as expensive as the printers. I bought my ink jet on sale for $50 and the ink cartridges are between $35 and $45 dollars, each.

I wouldn't know exactly because I do not have that printer, but here are a couple of suggestions:

Check how much ink you have, make sure you are not almost out.

Try click the "Preferences" button when you click "Print" and the click on the "Maintenance" tab. Go through there and try different things like "Nozzle Cleaning" and "Printer Head Alignment."

You're probably thinking of a commercial plotter ! Those machines are usually much wider than 'standard' printers - and are normally supplied with a roll of paper many feet long.

Hewlett Packard state with a big sticker that this printer is compatabile with VISTA. However, this is NOT the case as even the latest drivers do not allow VISTA to fully use the printer. Issue

When the scan button is pressed on the printer, nothing happens. The scan button does not work correctly.

Scan documents using Windows Fax and Scanning or Paint.

Cause

The drivers in the Windows Vista operating system do not support button press functionality on the printer. So to summerise, the printer is NOT Vista compatabile.
