How long before a debt becomes null?

Null is an English word meaning 'nothing' or without value or consequence. It is derived from the Latin word nullus meaning 'none'

I should think most all debts continue to grow unless they are paid on...in which case they become null only when they are paid in full.

If for some preposterous reason reason your thinking your debts have a time limit and are then forgiven: No - if you ignore them they just don't go away. (If that was true, I assure you - almost no one would feel compelled to pay it back.....and absolutely no one would give a loan or credit).

Another Answer:

Often debts are ruled uncollectable after a specified number of years, IF there has been no legal attempt to collect it. The period of time would be dependent on the Legal Jurisdiction that the debt occurs in.

Check with a lawyer in the area in which you live.

What if a civil penalty has been imposed against and you are unemployed and do not have funds?

If a civil penalty has been imposed against you and you are unemployed with no funds, it’s important to communicate your financial situation to the relevant authority. Many jurisdictions allow for hardship requests or payment plans based on your income status. You may also explore options for legal aid or assistance programs that can help address your situation. Ignoring the penalty could lead to further legal complications, so it's vital to seek a resolution.

Is repairing an existing parking lot problem considered maintenance or improvement?

This is not a "legal" opinion, but from a common sense point of view, if you are replacing like with like (such as asphalt with asphalt) and not changing the car parking, (same number, dimensions and arrangement) it would be maintenance only.

What happens when you pay off a judgment?

Generally, the judgment holder will give back a document of some sort that gets recorded in the same office as the judgment was recorded. In NJ the document is called a Warrant of Satisfaction. It acknowledges that the judgment has been paid in full and been satisfied and that the judgment may now be removed as a lien. In other states the name of the document may be different, but the process is generally the same.

Can I sue shoppers drugmart for banning my son and i from the store due to suspicion of shoplifting?

Answer

Yes, you can pretty much sue anyone for anything.

Your best bet would probably be discrimination, racial profiling, etc.

But why would you want to sue them?

Answer Shopkeepers have the right to "trespass" you from the store upon a reasonable suspicion of shoplifting (State v. Finley, 97 Wn. App 129, 982 P.2d 681 (1999). If you refuse to leave, or later return to the store, you can be arrested for trespassing. Unless reasonable minds would not differ in concluding that Shoppers' Drugmart wrongfully banned you from the store, you have no case.

How do you appeal a default judgment to which you were never served a summons?

You have 30 days to respond to a default judgment by going to the courthouse and filing an appeal. A new trial will be set where the judge will either give you another opportunity to hear your side or vacate the judgment if you can show that you were not properly served.
