Happened to be checking this item in our commercial kitchen this morning--- so rather than rely on supposition we weighed one cup of Karo Cornsyrup and the weight was .73 Pound.

because in the US the government subsidises corn, which means it pays farmers to grow corn and now our country has so much corn that they dont know what to do with it so they experiment with it and made high fructose corn syrup and because it is cheaper than sugar because there is so much of it, big compaines like nabisco use corn syrup in the US because its cheaper.Also, it is illegal in some countries.

first get a big book put two large spoons inside the book but leave a space between them second, cover the book with a plastic bag and tie it very very well third boil some some honey from egypt we call it black honey it's famous you can find it anywhere boil it on a temprature ( i'm not sure what temprature you can see a video of a a fat lady making it) after all it's gonna be so smooth like water vapour leave it for 90 seconds exactly if you liked it cause it could make fire then get a mixer hand or a mixer machine spoon \ hand unlock it it will have the shape of nails beside each other or a huge fork then put in the boiled black honey put old newspapers under the book you made put the spoons on the edge of the table while it's still inside the book then put the newspapers on the ground under the wooden spoons then bring the mixer hand you unlocked dipped and mix the black honey get it out make sure there's still some honey on it then put your hands over the wooden spoons while your holding the mixer hand put your hands higher than the wooden spoons and shake your hand ( make this step again till you hace cotton candy) and you will have cotton candy on the wooden spoons at the end you can out the cotten candy in a bowl it will be like hair when you make it and enjoy your dessert :) ! PS: before you finish boiling the honey you can add some colours if you like it PS OF THE PS: try the blue one it will give it a shine thanks from an arabian girl

this is not true! a heavier liquid such as corn syrup is not going to equal 8 oz because it is obviously more dense than water. you're right that a cup is a measurement of volume but when taking a cup into weight you cannot just assume that all liquids are going to be 8 oz in a cup. i encourage you to test this by actually measuring out a cup of water into oz and a cup of corn syrup into oz.
