What evidence is there against creationism?
Scientists generally have no argument with the notion of creation, as long as it does not conflict with known scientific facts. However, creationism is a dogmatic religious belief that insists that science is wrong and that the earth was created exactly as its proponents believe the Bible literally says it was.
The Bible itself is the greatest enemy of these creationists. First of all, there are two, incompatible creation stories in Genesis, at 1:1-2:4a and at 2:4b-20. Creationists ought to decide which creation story it is that they support - the first one, which states that man, both male and female, was created last of all living things, or the second story that says that Adam was created first, then all other living things, and then Eve. Leon R. Kass (The Beginning of Wisdom: Reading Genesis) says that pious readers, believing that the text cannot contain contradictions, ignore the major disjunctions between the two creation stories and tend to treat the second story as the fuller, more detailed account of the creation of man (and woman), but he says we must scrupulously avoid reading into the second story any facts or notions taken from the first (and vice versa) if we mean to understand each story on its own terms. Anything less than this can not be compared with science.
The second creation story appears to place creation some six thousand years ago, yet science has shown that the world is approximately 4.54 million years old. Some creationists accept the great age of the world, and say that the 'day' of the first creation story is really intended to mean an indefinite period, even though experts in the Hebrew language say there is no reason to interpret the text in this way. And a problem with this is that the scientific creation of the world was never so simple and linear that it could fit the creation story, no matter how interpreted.
The first creation story also suffers from the problem that creation is supposed to have occurred in an impossible sequence. As the early Church Father, Origen, had to say on this (On First Principles, 3.1.1): "Now what man of intelligence will believe that the first and the second and the third day, and the evening and the morning existed without the sun and moon and stars? And that the first day if we may so call it, was even without a heaven? And who is so silly as to believe that God, after the manner of a farmer, planted a paradise eastward in Eden, and set in it a visible and palpable 'tree of life' ..."
Much of the evidence against creationism is the evidence for cosmology and evolution. There is so much evidence that science has the explanation for what really happened, that creationism must remain a convenient religious discussion only.

It is certainly possible to believe the Genesis creation stories (there are two full stories, and some scholars say there are three), while accepting scientific explanations of the origin of the universe. The two approaches address completely different questions and do not need to be confused.
Science addresses the question, "How?" The various areas of physics examine how particles and forces such as gravity act and react throughout time and space so that the stars and galaxies, elements and species came to have the forms and qualities that we observe.
The stories in the Scriptures address the question, "Why?" The creation stories in Genesis tell us that we are related to a great Being that we call God, who is also involved with the totality of the universe and with the world in which we live. This God cares for us, knows us intimately and wants to have a connection with us.
It might help to consider a parallel question, "What is love?" Science can tell us a great deal about the attraction of male to female and all the details of fertilization of ovum by sperm, about the hormones that stimulate nurturing activity in a mother toward her child, and about the societal connections that create a family. But we need other areas of knowledge such as literature and the arts to tell us about romance, commitment, devotion, sorrow and joy. Both are true in their own area. Understanding and acceptance of one does not exclude understanding and acceptance of the other.

As a Christian, I have to think long and hard about the deepest meaning of creation. I used to believe there was a celestial protocol: a governing law, that had an eternal proposition.
This proposition is demonic, however. It puts sin within an agent, which is not its ultimate fate, as sin needs no agent. The idea of one side over another, is ridiculous because of forgiveness. The full power of forgiveness gives rise to balancing all of the equation. The equation is the problem of problems., the test of tests. I remind you, King of Kings.
Our lives are supposed to be a journey to the best we can be, whether it leads to us suffering by ourselves, or a lack of. Any journey is a test. That means the best you can be is a potential, no more, and only the trinity and all of heaven knows the outcome. Free will has never been the important part: it is surrendering our will at the and to the cross, giving your mind, body and soul to the most forgiving: Jesus Christ. All should stick to the cross. Resistance is to be forgiven. Every evil doing agent is to be forgiven. Sin is evil, obviously. It has no name, no vessel, no host, no manifest. It belongs in the well of despair, as despair is the ultimate sin. Giving up on anything starts with the sin of not trying your best. That means you are forsaken, because you are not forsaken if you do try your best. Giving your best is another way of saying "I will only do what Jesus would do."
Ultimately, I view creation as not a test of what is the potential (perception of best it can be),but what God sees fit to be perfect. He does not sin, nor do others now in heaven. His most devout, will receive more and more tests, until they reach a state of such virtue, they will achieve Zenith: a sinless state, which can only be accessed by the two most devout joining into one entity: one body, two souls: symbiotic joining. It has the strictest date, and it will happen.
