The schenkel scoring system is used in curling games (bonspiels) where many teams play several games leading to a final game. There could be 24 teams playing 3 by 4-end games on a six sheet ice rink. Only 12 teams can play at a time so the 24 would be split into two sections. The initial game of each section would be played by random draw. Teams would get 2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for lose. The number of ends won would count. The number of shots scored could be added as well although shots scored is often only used to separate two teams who were equal in points and ends. two teams with the highest number of points will play each other in the next round of games, with 3rd and 4th playing each other right down to 7th playing 8th. The main reason is to make strong teams play other strong teams so that weaker teams don't get badly beaten each game (apart from the first game). Eventually both sections will have played all their games and different variations of scoring can happen. The scores of both sections can be considered and the top 12 go through to a final game still counting the score as before - highest score against 2nd highest score and so on. Or the top 6 from each section go through to the finals with top of one section playing top of the other section. Sometimes, especially in Canada, the person counting the scores does not let each team know what position they are in the scoring table, they are just told who their opposition will be in the next round, so the final games could be

played with the overall winner getting nice surprise (although they will have a rough idea of how they are doing if, say, they have won all their previous games, but they won't know who else is in the same position!).

I personally believe that the curling or conical wand creates better curls, however, the wand doesn't have a clasp so you have to twist the hair around the wand and hold the hair in place.

It is used to determine how 'fast' the ice is. The longer a rock stays in motion, the faster the ice. Or, better put, the longer a rock takes to travel between 2 points (the back line and the T-line in the rings), the faster the ice. It may seem counter-intuitive, but if the ice is slow, you have to throw the rock harder to reach the same distance, than if it is fast. If the ice is fast, you can let the rock go gently, and it will stay in motion for a longer time, reaching the same destination, but taking longer to do it.

Yeah the dude won 2 Manitob Men Jr titles. provincial titles were won in 1987,1988, and coaching in 2009. he was an original member of the grand slam of curling for 3 years in 2002,03,and04. he played in many selects and labatt tankards starting in 1991 to 2008. he was a winner of 5 total world curling tour events, as well as over 10 Manitoba sanctioned events. retiring in 2009 never quite reached the expectations of many, he was a player that really enjoyed the comradorie and often the curling took a back seat.

There are no rules against the number of sweepers who can sweep a rock at any given time, so in some cases when a rock really needs sweeping it's possible that all four players on the team will be sweeping it. There are a couple of reasons why it's not entirely practical, though. It's hard to maneuver all of those brooms and bodies in front of a rock while staying close enough for the sweeping to be effective, and the shooter's job is really to keep a close view from behind of the shot's line and weight in order to call the sweepers on or off.
