The Nick Drake song mentioned below is used in an actual car commercial, but doesn't sound as much like Dave Matthews as Five for Fighting does. I think you might have meant 100 Years, Five for Fighting, The Battle for Everything. I heard that commercial too and was asking the same question. I wondered what that song was for years. It's called 'Pink Moon', by Nick Drake.

No he is not. Dave and his wife, Ashley Harper Matthews (nauropathic doctor) recently had their third child, Oliver.

It wasn't until 1991 the Dave Matthews decided to start his own band after success with his first gig at McGuffey Art Center in Charlottesville. The band performed their first show on Mar. 14, 1991; it was part of a benefit at Trax Nightclub in Charlottesville.

He has three kids of his own, twins Stella Busina and Grace Anne. He also has a son August Oliver. Dave and his sister Jane were responsible for the upbringing for his other sisters children after she was tragically murdered by her husband in a murder-suicide.

I don't know who the opening act for that show was, but Gravity Kills and Goldfinger opened for them on some shows for that tour. The show in Memphis was on April 8th, 1996 at Mud Island Amphitheater and it was the "Filthy Lucre" tour if anyone can use that to research more.

The Sex Pistols played the Taliesyn Ballroom in Memphis in January 1978, a band called Quo Jr. opened for them.

The Lovely Ladies- Backing vocals (a three-part vocal group that originally sang on the song Stay (Wasting Time) from the band's 1998 album Before These Crowded Streets. Like Taylor, they made occasional guest appearances from 1998-2000 before joining full time in 2001, which turned out to be their only tour.)
