What is Dave Matthews' song Crash Into Me abou?

Asked by Wiki User

Considering Dave Mathews autobiography: had a girlfriend and was madly involve with her! three times has offered her a ring but she refused :-( i would like to refer to the disappointment he felt...

it is clear that this song unfold an obsession to a women - one women - his biggest love which he never overcame.

the song lyrics goes on to the kinky side of a men expressing his special weird way of doing things, here Dave tells us how he perceive himself.

"You got your ball you got your chain" means: i wanted us to have a ball and get married.

his major wish is so simple: "Into your heart Ill beat again Sweet like candy to my soul".. actually this line say it all - i just wanted you to love me back and accept me as i am!

and now here is what Dave Matthews said:

"This song is about the worship of women, but this is a little bit of a crazy man, he's the kind of person that would get called the police on, some guy sort of peering in keenly at like his neighbors or something, young girl moved in or something..." and he later says "so i wrote this song about it rather than actually, uhh, peering in the window for fear of being arrested."

I admire you for that song and love it so much

What song does the Dave Matthews Band sing in the television commercial for a car?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

AMERICAN BABY ==Clarification== "100 Years" is the name of the song, Five for Fighting is the band, and "The Battle for Everything" is the album. It wasn't a car commercial, but a Chase credit card commercial (obviously didn't do its job if we don't remember the product.) The Nick Drake song mentioned below is used in an actual car commercial, but doesn't sound as much like Dave Matthews as Five for Fighting does. I think you might have meant 100 Years, Five for Fighting, The Battle for Everything. I heard that commercial too and was asking the same question. I wondered what that song was for years. It's called 'Pink Moon', by Nick Drake.

I don't know who the opening act for that show was, but Gravity Kills and Goldfinger opened for them on some shows for that tour. The show in Memphis was on April 8th, 1996 at Mud Island Amphitheater and it was the "Filthy Lucre" tour if anyone can use that to research more.

The official members of the band are:

Dave Matthews- Lead vocals/rhythm guitar/occasional keyboards

Boyd Tinsley- Violin and backing vocals Carter Beauford- Drums and backing vocals

Stefan Lessard- Bass guitar

There are also three players who are designated as touring members (they play onstage every night, as well as in the studio but are not official band members--it's a contractual thing):

Rashawn Ross- Trumpet and backing vocals

Tim Reynolds- Electric guitar Jeff Coffin- Woodwinds

There are also several former members of the band: LeRoi Moore- Woodwinds and backing vocals (A founding member of the band in 1991 and remained up until his death in 2008 from injuries sustained in an ATV accident. His last show was June 28, 2008.) Peter Greisar- Keyboards and harmonica (joined the band shortly after its formation and played with them until March 1993, when he left after deciding that life on the road was too much for him) Butch Taylor- Keyboards and backing vocals (the first 'touring member', Butch played occasional guest spots from 1998-2000 before joining them full-time in 2001, after which he played every show until leaving the band for reasons unknown a few days before the start of the 2008 tour). The Lovely Ladies- Backing vocals (a three-part vocal group that originally sang on the song Stay (Wasting Time) from the band's 1998 album Before These Crowded Streets. Like Taylor, they made occasional guest appearances from 1998-2000 before joining full time in 2001, which turned out to be their only tour.)
