The trees should be maintained by appropriate watering and fertilizing. Fallen leaves should be raked up and discarded. Treat newly transplanted or heavily stressed trees with a fungicide to prevent or treat infections.

People cause forests to be stripped or burnt down because they have, uses for the timber. or they need land for farming or cattle grazing another problem is the diversion of and use of the water in rivers that starve forests of water. People have to constantly expand because they have chosen an expansionary economic model to go with. leading to an exponential requirement of land and recourse's.

For example, the Love Canal environmental event, where homes were built on top of toxic chemicals and children living there experienced high rates of cancer, combined all three of these reasons. The chemicals were buried there were inadequately sealed in their containers: indifference. People did not know that the chemicals were there, and the houses were built on top of the toxic dump: ignorance. The person who put the chemicals in the pit did not know they were going to cause cancer and could not have known houses would someday be built there: unintended consequences.
