Direct TV does not have a sleep timer unfortunately. Therefore I use my TV's sleep timer and the box stays on pretty much all the time. I have me Ed had any complication with the box always being on. Sometimes if I remember I turn it off in the morning on my way to school and/or work.

You can try. You'll need an electrical outlet, and you'll need to know which direction to aim the dish, but there's no reason why it would be impossible. Difficult, maybe. Don't forget to bring the TV, too.

Not sure, but it sure does seem like one. When I tried to exit the website, it told me 'Are you sure you want to navigate away from this page? Click Cancel and get a 50% discount!' Definitely a scam.

This product really does not work... yes there are a ton of tv stations... nothing local [Dallas Texas] mind you. And I am not impressed with it at all... I have played with this several times... I cannot get it to function or play stations that i search on. Seems it only prefers some sort of built in channels. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY... go spend it instead for a tv tuner to add on to your computer... This sucks

It is a scam. Almost none of the stations work. This is a total waste of money and time.

Sorry, but after reading the first answer, I was compelled to give my personal input. I'm an actual user and tester of Stream Direct TV and other software packages like it. Out of the top 10 (pay-to-download) Internet TV Software service packages, StreamDirect is #1 in my book. But that doesn't mean the application will work for each and every computer, even though it may be compatible - but very rarely does that happen. And, it doesn't mean there aren't some downsides which all these products have.

This service offers a TV player pre-loaded with tons of worldwide live/on-demand/HD channels and there's a member's area where you get more perks, and access to more free content that I like to classify as giving you a robust Internet TV experience. The software works very well on my Windows 7, Toshiba Satellite laptop, and I'm still enjoy using the product/service.

I have not experienced any problems whatsoever and wonder sometimes why some people degrade all pay-to-download Internet TV software products and called them all scams. Many have never tried the software they are degrading.

However, I do understand that there are many poor products out there claiming to deliver certain things when they don't.

The StreamDirect service now offers a Mac version which is a nice addition to it's Windows version. They also offer a 3 day trial for a few dollars that allows you to test the software on your computer with full access to all the features and free content.

The StreamDirect service gave many channels which could never be accessed

and a lot of sites which seem on first look to be genuine but they try to rope you in with scams. I fell for such a scam. I was offered a 5 day free trial for Flix 247. I took it, tried the offered movies and found that they were all old and inferior movies. I forgot about the whole thing and moved on. Surprise, surprise- there was a disclaimer which was not in evidence that after 5 days I was put on a 'Premium Subscription' at the rate of $50 a month. I was not aware that they had been siphoning off the money since I had to give them my credit card number thinking that it was only to access the free trial. I had not checked my credit card statement too closely and my wife who pays the bills at the bank did not question the amount. I only caught the scam after closely looking at my credit card statement and cancelling immediately. There is no refund, although I never used the lousy service. The only non-refundable subscription is 'The Free Trial subscription'. Shame on me for falling for such a scam!!

The basic package for Direct TV does not imply a lot of investment. It will cost more to add on "specialty packages" to the basic package. To have channels like HBO, Starz and exclusive sports channels, you will have to pay extra.

Direct TV was worth Approx. 52,120,989,000 in 2011 providing the best TV service in the world making people both happy and upset give or take.

Yes it plays on slice on my tv it says SLCDv for me it's on channel 27 and its on 2-5am for Canada
