The first disco hit was "Rock the Boat" by The Hues Corporation, closely followed by "Rock Your Baby" by George McCrae, both in 1974. Both songs hit #1 on the Billboard charts and really got the Disco craze going. Interestingly,

Rock Your Baby was written by Howard Casey, who went on to become KC of KC and the Sunshine Band, who had several No. 1 hits and whose sound became synonomous with Disco. Hope this helps.

The heavy kickdrum in simple quadruple time gives a constant rhythm of quarter notes, making it extremely easy for people to catch onto the beat. The usually high vocal and horn parts are very exciting both musically and lyrically and have all the surprises that make music interesting. The thunderous bassline is treated as priority in disco and unlike most music today, lead guitar isn't used because it would compromise the seniority of the bass. Rhythm guitar is used to complicate the musical sound but not keep attention from the simple, steady kickdrum. Rhythm guitar can be thought of as the inner workings of the sound because if it was heard alone it wouldn't make much sense, but hearing it churning with the rest of the parts helps to make sense of the music. Keyboard or fingered electric guitar is often used, but again, always keeps in line with the bass. It adds an interesting, synthesized sound that led to the synthesizer obsession of the 80s.

These are generalities and obviously all of disco cannot have a single answer. But disco mainly keeps priority to the heavy downbeat in 4/4, which nicknamed the meter "four-on-the-floor". Think of it as the dancefloor, if you like.

Disco Balls are fairly cheap anyway you could try charity shops,£1 shops, Ebay or houseofrave.com.

It is easy to build your own disco ball, all you need is:

.Paper mache

.glue

.newspaper

.imaganation

.glitter

and a balloon.

Firstly you need to get a balloon and cover it in glue and newspaper do about 4 layers the last layer needs to be covered in glue. when all this is dry you apply more glue and put glitter and sequins on, then pierce a hole through the end of the balloon where you have tied a knot and put string through the knot.Wait for it to dry and hang up:)

Barry White only had six number one hits but his voice is well known every- where in the world. And he was cruelly labeled "The Walrus of Love" due to his obese status and his overtly sexual monologues during his steamier songs. - ABBA: The ones behind "Dancing Queen", "The Winner Takes It All", and "Mamma Mia"; ABBA was more EuroPop than disco singers but it was hard not to 'jive' to their trademark songs even if they failed to make it big in America. - Gloria Gaynor: She is known for that one song, a woman's anthem and you guessed it, "I Will Survive." This was her biggest hits and while she came out with a handful of Top 20 hits, this song was her limelight moment. - LaBelle: Face it, everybody knows Patti LaBelle and while her band LaBelle did not make it real big before Patti had a monstrous solo career filled with quiet storm/soul hits, that one song "Lady Marmalade" is always gonna have that enchanting if not intense vibe to it and should always be mentioned in a paper on the whole disco fad. - Grace Jones: At one point called "The Queen of Gay Discos" due to her extremely masculine appearance and contralto voice. She tended to not dress up when she performed, instead performing in polygon shapes and neon paint that would cover her vital areas. Her "costumes" are ones good to wonder if Lady GaGa was influenced by such. While Grace never did make it huge with only 3-4 number one hits, she is better known as the femme fatale May Day in the grossly underrated Bond movie "A View To A Kill." Hopefully, this helped.
