Doves and Pigeons

Pigeons are part of the Columbidae bird family, along with doves. The most common pigeon, found mostly in urban areas, is the Feral Rock Pigeon. The Passenger Pigeon was a bird that had lived in North America until it became extinct in 1914. This once-common species of animal was wiped out due to commercial hunting and habitat loss. Where do pied imperial pigeons come from?

They actually originate from the rock dove(/pigeon) and have been captured and domesticated over thousands of years. In Charles Darwins time there were people selectively breeding pigeons with desirable features (certain colours, tail length etc) and eventually they come out with new ''breeds''. Peid imperial pigeons are a result of trial and error breeding from another breed of pigeon (its basiclly been genetically mutated). Probably quite a long time ago.

I want to scare off pigeons and squirrels with a 1mW green laser pen but it doesnt work. Is it the wrong colour or can't these creatures see coloured laser light?

You need a green laser for that & one mw is not enough. I advise atleast a 100mw and sometimes even that is not enough. 80% of the pigeons are gone with even a short bust of green laser light but up to 20% plays difficult.
