In culinary school we were taught that to get the burnt taste out of foods sometimes it works to use a peeled potato let it absorb the tastes for at least half an hour remove, or if it is a cream based soup add milk or cream to fix a little at a time until burnt taste is gone. From Grandma's kitchen what works every time is creamy peanut butter 1 tablespoon at a time up to 5 tbs per pot. just keep tasting it until burnt taste is gone. Trust me it won't taste burnt or like peanut butter.

It's not advisable to try and pan fry dumplings, dumplings need long slow cooking such and baking, boiling, stewing or steaming to ensure they get thoroughly cooked, pan frying is too quick, the outside of the dumplings would be cooked long before the inside.

To make dumplings put chopped meat in pizza dough and seal the dough together around the meat and let sit for 2 hours then put them in the oven on 475 for 2 hours.

You can make Chinese style dumplings by making a dough with flour and water and salt (if you want) kneed the dough well.

Make up a mixture of minced beef or minced pork, plus grated carrots or onions or chives. What ever vegetable you put in make sure it is cut fine or minced. Season meat mixture with salt.

Then using a rolling pin roll pieces of dough into small (fairly thin) circles about 50-60 mm diameter. Put some of the meat/vegetable mixture in the middle of the dough circle fold over and pinch edges together.

Cook in a pot of boiling water for a few minutes. Make a dipping sauce with chilli, soy vinegar and enjoy.
