Did Jesus feed the 5000 on Good Friday?

No, but there is a theological relationship between Jesus feeding the five thousand and the Last Supper, which began the Good Friday. This is identified by the parallel structure of Mark's Gospel, where the story of feeding the five thousand first appeared.

There is also a story of Jesus feeding 4000 people soon afterwards and in remarkably similar circumstances. In Mark's Gospel, these accounts form part of a contiguous set of miracle stories and discourses that include a total of ten references or allusions to food (Mark 6:33-8:21 ), with a minor theme of not understanding:

  • Jesus and the disciples had no leisure so much as to eat, so they went into a desert place
  • Feeding the 5000
  • When Jesus walked on water the disciples were amazed, for they considered not the miracle of the loaves
  • Pharisees complain about the disciples eating with unwashed hands
  • Discourse - what goes into a man goes into his belly and does not defile
  • Greek woman metaphorically begs for crumbs from the table
  • Feeding the 4000
  • Disciples are hungry and have only one loaf of bread
  • Jesus warns the disciples about the leaven of the Pharisees and they reason, "It is because we have no bread," showing they do not understand
  • Summary by Jesus of the two feasts

These in turn form one part of a pair in the parallel structure of Mark, with the Last Supper as the matching event (a parallel structure is a literary sequence in which an opening set of events is contrasted with another, parallel set of events that mirrors the first): A . John explains the coming of Jesus (Mark 1:1-8)

W' .Jesus dies and on the third day rises again (15:37, 16:6)

The purpose of a parallel structure in ancient literature was to link two events by association and thereby create emphasis or develop a theme that was not otherwise apparent. By verse 8:21, the reader is asking, "Why don't they understand?" Later, at the Last Supper (chapter 14, the matching event R'), the reader understands, but knows that the disciples do not.

Why are bunnies and eggs part of Easter?

Bunnies are special on Easter because they symbolize new life, which is what Spring is about. It has been a tradition to have an Easter bunny and that is also why bunnies are so important - they keep up the tradition. Also, according to folklore, rabbits layed the eggs that the kids picked up, so without the Easter bunny, there would not be any story behind where the eggs come from.

More generally, actually bunnies are special because the whole Easter bunny tradition is focused around them.

The Bible doesn't explicitly say, but the general implication is that God did it. One possible interpretation is that, with Jesus to act as intermediary between God and men, there was no longer any need for the "holy of holies" to be separated from the rest of the world by a curtain.

It's also worth noting that a common practice of the Hebrew people in mourning was to tear their garments.

How did eggs become part of Easter?

There’s a couple interesting theories. One gives the eggs a Christian origin, and the other suspects it could’ve been adopted from Pagan rituals.

First, the Christian origin theory. These days, vegetarianism during Lent (the 40-day period before Easter) is only mandated on Fridays. However, Lenten restrictions used to expand to all animal products, including eggs, every day of the week. Since hens didn’t just take the season off, some historians say their Christian owners would hard boil their eggs and distribute them after Lent.

The Pagan origin theory pins Easter eggs to a festival celebrating the goddess Eastre along with the arrival of spring. People ate eggs (and maybe even buried them to encourage fertility) at the festival. Eventually, Christian leaders, hoping to encourage conversion, placed their holy days near Pagan festivals on the calendar, and eggs eventually hopped religious traditions.

Whichever is true, eggs are forever linked to today’s Easter. They’re now decorated, hidden, and forever linked to a giant bunny. Finally, something that makes sense.

Why is there such thing as Easter?

On good Friday, Jesus was crusified and put on the cross, on Easter Sunday we celebrate the anniverary of when Jesus came back to life.

The reason that we have Easter eggs on Easter, there is two reasons, I used to go to a Catholic school so I learnt a lot about God and Jesus and how Jesus died and all that stuff.

Here are the reasons that we have Easter eggs:

The first reason: When Jesus was buried in a cave, when he came back to life he had to move a big boulder or giant rock to get out, it was an egg shape. Everyone knows that most people love chocolate, so they take the egg from the egg shaped boulder or giant rock and the chocolate, also to pig out a bit on chocolate because lent has ended.

The second reason: An egg represents new life, when Jesus came back to life it was new life, when chickens eggs hatch and other animals that grow in eggs it is new life, so the egg represents the new life of Jesus, the chocolate is just as a treat, also to pig out a bit on chocolate because lent has ended.

Which part of the Bible talks about Easter?

All four gospels cover the Easter story. Matthew's Gospel is for a Jewish audience, and thus explains it in relation to Jewish teaching and His fulfillment of ancient prophecy, Mark's Gospel is for a Roman-influenced audience and is far more factual and unemotional. Luke's Gospel is for a Greek-influenced audience and therefore is more artistic and emotional than the others; John's Gospel is written by one of the twelve, and is aimed at a worldwide audience - non-Jews, obviosly.
