What is ups static switch?

In uninterruptible power supply (UPS), it is an electronic switch used to bypass a mechanical switch. Normally used when loads are switched from inverter to mains.

Static switch is an automatic switch that can only be activated depending on the condition of the UPS.

The following are the conditions wherein the UPS static switch can be activated:
1. Overload condition
2. Failure of inverter
3. Availability of UPS bypass supply but absence of UPS rectifier supply (normal UPS power) that ran out its battery.
4. Manual intervention on the UPS that resulted to the activation of static bypass switch.

208 volt 12 amps versus 277 volt 6 amps?

It is hard to see a question here. Both of these voltages are currently use in electrical systems today. Both voltages are related to three phase systems.

A voltage of 208 volts is a three phase wye system that has a voltage of 208 between lines L1, L2 and L3 and 120 volts between any of the lines and neutral.

A voltage of 277 is the line to neutral voltage of a 480 volt three phase wye system. There is a voltage of 480 between L1, L2 and L3 and 277 volts between any of the lines and neutral.

How do you make static electricity with a carpet and plastic wrap?

get plastic wrap and put your hands and feet on the ground like you are about to crawl. put the palstic rap under your hands and feet. ( while still looking like your about to crawl) and move back and forth!!!! - SIDNIE

Explain the methods of using one piece of electrical equipment safely during the conditioning treatment service?

The methods of using one piece of electrical equipment safely is to check that the equipment (climazone) has been PAT tested, check all cords for breakages and loose wires, check the heat settings are intact and working correctly. When using the climazone on a client for a conditioning treatment ensure that the heat settings aren't too high and that the clients head isn't to close to the equipment, also to ensure that the cords aren't trailing across the floor. It is always best to ask the client if the climazone is set at the right temperature for them.

Converting oil into electricity?

There are 3 ways to convert oil to electricity:

1. Conventional steam: oil is burned to heat water and steam, to turn the turbine

2. Combustion turbine: oil is burned under pressure to get hot exhaust gases

3. Combined-cycle technology: oil is firstly combusted using the combustion turbine meathod, then after the gases are recovered, they heat the water in a boiler and power a second turbine

Hope this helps - Jack (http://edinburghjunction.webs.com)

What is the symbol used in formulas to represent voltage?

The symbol is actually a letter. The original letter was an E which stood for Electromotive force. Now-days the E is substituted by the letter V which of course stands for voltage.

Can a gfci go bad?

Most definitely. GFCI receptacles have a test buton, and should be tested regularly. you can also buy inexpensive plug-in testers at most home centers and electric supply houses.

What if you used 240V UK supply to power 120V US Bose speakers?

Don't do it. Period. You will overheat the wires , blow the board and start a fire within seconds. I assume you're talking about the pre amp and the amplifier. Most sound systems run their own power supplies to the speakers. Do this instead. Check the Bose speakers and see if they have a voltage differential switch, some do especially if you're in Europe or the UK. If they do not and you are in the UK you will need to get a transformer to step down the voltage to 120V 60 hertz. Be sure to match the amperage of your system to the transformer you get. My personal advice is not to use the speakers at all as the price of the transformer and the hum that it produces compromises the benefit you might derive from the sound system.

You ran power from your house to your shop about a year ago The problem you are having is one of the bus legs in your shop panel box is not hot so every other 20 amp breaker is not hot on that leg?

Sounds as though you only ran a 110 volt power supply to your new shop subpanel. You need to supply 220V with a neutral and ground from your main panel to your subpanel. The 220 supply needs to come from a two pole 220V circuit breaker in your main panel. (example 50 or 100 Amp) Then, most importantly, you must use the correct size wire to carry the current. That is the wire must be sized correctly to the 220V breaker. The neutral must also be the same size as the conductors.

Once you determine how much power you need in your shop, size the supply 220v circuit breaker and wire accordingly. Check with your local building department if you are unsure or what size wire to use with what size breaker or refer to Table 310-16 in the National Electric Code.

In Australia domestic power is 240v So you have run single phase power to a three phase switchboard. To get power to those breakers you must hook the active to the busbar connected to those circuit breakers.

What physical feature provides hydroelectric power to Buffalo NY?

The abundance of water from the upper Niagara River to power the turbines. This power in turn feeds into the grid that Buffalo NY is connected to.

On a standard three prong AC outlet what should the AC voltage measure between neutral and ground?

Zero, or very close to it. If there is a large neutral current flowing, voltage drop on the neutral leg could cause a volt or so to read between the two. If you read full line voltage, the outlet is wired wrong!

Weight of copper wire?

(8) GAUGE WIRE

50lbs per 1000ft or 1lb per 20ft

(12) GAUGE WIRE

19lbs per 1000ft or 1.9lbs per 100ft

(14) GAUGE WIRE

12lbs per 1000ft or 1.2lbs per 100ft

Can 14 gauge wire carry 220 volt?

Wire guage is used as a measurement for the ampacity of the wire. # 14 wire is allowed 15 amp to be applied to it. Voltage is governed by the insulation factor of the wire. The three standard insulations are for 300V, 600V and 1000 volts.

What is a millivolt ignition?

It's a standing pilot light, the flame also produces constant low levels of electricity (Millivolts) to control the safety and gas valves.

Are porcelain light sockets better than ceramic sockets?

Porcelain is a ceramic material, and because of this, the question "devolves" into something akin to, "Is a ceramic light socket better than a ceramic one?"
