I like Malcom in the Middle; I love Everybody Hates Chris. The reason is because Malcom is always so noisy and everyone is yelling but the writing is very clever and the direction the dialog is going is always unexpected; the actors do their roles to a tee. Chris is my favorite because it is witty, closer to real life situations that go way off the trolley tracks, and every actor and every character, even the peripheral characters, are wonderfully drawn and wonderfully acted. Who couldn't love that poor kid's mom?!
His last name is, "Little Dude from Across the Street". Actually, they never use a last name for the family in the series.
They never mention his last name, but since it's based on Chris Rock, i assume his last name is supposed to be Rock.

Yes, he passes his G.E.D. test in the "Everybody Hates the G.E.D." episode. It was Season 4, Episode 22 of "Everybody Hates Chris."
The episode ends with the entire family sitting around a restaurant table. Julius brings the G.E.D. results and the last thing said is Chris asking, "What's it say?" The scene then blacks out, ending the episode. This ending is supposed to be a spoof of The Sopranos series finale, which leaves you wondering what really happened.
However, when Julius parks his truck, there is a camera close-up of the 735 painted on his truck. This implies Chris's G.E.D. score, which would be passing, since the test is scored out of 800.
