What was Stanley Kubrick's personality like?

User Avatar
This a mystery as many different descriptions have been said from fans, to co-workers, to family members. The media described him as a reclusive perfectionist and a madman. Actors who worked on his films describe him as very intense, such as the infamous story of him pushing Shelly in The Shining to a psychological breakdown in order to get the fantastic performance you see. He was an avid chess player, so I'd image he has a strategic mind. His rare interviews reveal him to be knowledgable and articulate. He was self-depcriating and kind. He also loved animals and once canceled a days shoot on Full Metal Jacket as he discovered a small animal had been killed whilst tearing down buildings.

How did The 39 Steps directed by Alfred Hitchcock end?

User Avatar
While giving his show Mr. Memory is asked by fugitive Richard Hannay: "What are the 39 Steps?" Mr. Memory begins to answer by saying "[t]he 39 Steps is an organization of spies", and is shot by the spymaster, who then leaps onto the stage and is immediately captured. Mr. Memory, who is barely alive, asks if he can answer the question and proceeds to reveal the complex secrets of the weaponry he memorized. He dies on the stage and Hannay and Pamela hold hands as the camera recedes.

He fathered Ronald with his wife Ruth Martin whom he married in 1916. Ronald was born in 1918 and had a younger sister, Leslie Ruth. Ronald died in 1996. What were the typical characteristic of Tim Burton's animations?

User Avatar
Alot of his animations' colors were sort of dulled... sort of dark, and, in my opinion, have quite large eyes (haha!). alot of his animations were claylike, in a sense, and dreamlike. but, to me, claymation is what stands out, and the dulled colors. it all depends on the way you look at them.

Asked in Film Directors, Alfred Hitchcock

Why does Alfred Hitchcock put himself into his movies?

User Avatar
The story he told was this: He needed an extra to do a VERY quick scene in The Lodger , but the appointed extra didn't show. Rather than waste time and money trying to find another extra to do this one second scene, Hitchcock just did the scene himself. The film was Hitchcock's first big success. Since the entertainment business is incredibly superstitious, he figured his appearence in the film brought him good luck, so he just repeated the short cameo in his next few films. By the time he got tired of this gimmick, he found his fans were actually EXPECTING this cameo in every film. So he just kept doing it in every film, LONG after he felt any need to do so.
