What do you feed a normal fighting fish?

one small betta flake from your NutraFin Max betta food container If you have pellets (which I highley recommend!) you should feed them 3-4 (even 5-6)pellets twice a day. Just make sure not to over feed them, because that could make the betta sick and/or have digestive problems. -Raz The best way to tell how much your betta fish should eat is to feed the fish an amount about the size of the fish's eye. Feed your fish an eye siezed amount once or twice a day. This method ensures that you do not over-feed because the fish's stomach is about the size of its eye and by using this method you are not limited to, so many:pellets per fish, bloodworms per fish, or flakes per fish. Just remember to feed your fish a varied diet and to not overfeed.

How to treat red spots or red streaks in goldfish?

my goldfish (PIG) he is 17" long he has this right now.

let me tell you this is a long haul it will depend on how much you love your fish. this is going to be very costly and time consuming.

the red spots are blood and the red streaks in the tale they are both from ammonia level andthe spots are from ammonia and bacteria.

BUT IF YOU DO NOT TREAT THIS IT WILL DIE!

the size of your tank might be to small.

first you have to get the ammonia level under control and the pH goldfish like more than 7.0

use ammonia lock, aquarium salt, stress coat, and stress zyme.

i order my stuff from dr. foster and smith. its so much cheeper than the pet shop and for a little more they will ship overnight.

if you do not get this under control the fish will get open sores.

you should use gallons of drinking water, spring has to many minnerals in it

you should also put another air pump on in addition to what you are using now. try and keep the temp of the tank the same.

after the ammonia level is under control begin with a wide spec. antiboitic for bacteria.

you will have to change water every day before treatment then test

after you do this it is very important to put back in the ammonia lock salt stress coat and stress zyme but only for the amount of water you replace.

good luck to you and God's speed!

Do male molly fish chase and harass females?

Provided your tank is large enough for the amount of fish you have, it will be normal play chasey behaviour. If you are not following the rules below, the female will be wanting the male removed (Or dead) because she needs the extra space (water) for her young when she releases them. The basic rules are. 1 inch of fish needs at least 1 gallon of water (a Molly is about a 4 inch fish) Every tank must have a permanently running cycled filter. Every tank needs at least 50% of its water replaced every week.

Why can't my betta fish swim to the surface?

If cared for properly, they should die of old age, but typically, the most common cause of fish death in captivity is a water quality issue due to toxins that are too high.
They can die of one of the many, many betta diseases there are out there, or just of old age. If your fish is suffering badly, just put him/her in a plastic box with water and keep them in the fridge, they will freeze slowly and experience no pain what so ever. They live longer if kept in tanks, usually 7 years (Though eight years is not un-common) but, if kept in bowls- even though they will be just as happy- they will live 1-3 years.

How do fish sink or float?

By my own understanding when a fish breathes in oxygen through the gills from the water it goes into its lungs, just like a human respiratory system.

So surely if a fish dies it will still have air inside of it. Air as we know is less dense compared with water and anything filled with air in water; tends to rise.

If the lungs are on he under side of a fish surely this would make the fish tend to roll onto its back and be 'upside-down'
