How Flight Attendant Can Control the Passengers?
Even though flight attendants usually take orders from the pilots and passengers on a typical flight, they are also able to command the passengers (excluding the pilots) with a delicate sense of authority. They may request everyone to go back to their seat and fasten their seatbelt, or maybe to keep their laptops before landing in a very dear but demanding way. Anyhow flight attendants commands are basically in concern with everyone's safety, security, comfort and even convenience.
There was one story a Philippine Airlines Captain said in one of his flight, among of their passengers was a basketball team who just won their game, so pride was all in their heads and they keep on standing, talking aloud, bragging, boasting until it became inconvenient to other passengers. They tried to talk them over to go back to their seat, but some of them never seemed to take action. Soon after in-flight service was about to begin, some of them are asked to go back to their seats as they are about to begin their in flight service, again none of them just ignored the request. Desperate, they tried to call the captain to do something about their basketball team, as funny as he was thinking, he immediately jerked the yoke of the 747 as if it was encountering turbulence. The jumbo jet suddenly fly in a crooked, and pattern while cabin lights are played by the co-pilot. The then suddenly received a call from the main galley and all he heard was "Captian, effective!" After he switched the autopilot on again, we went down to the lavatory only to have a glimpse of the reactions of the team. Unbelievably, these 6 footer men were tightly strapped in their seats trembling in fear as the Captain and his cabin crews just looked at him and smiled.

How does a modern plane cabin pressurize?
Pressurization is achieved by the design of an airtight fuselage engineered to be pressurized, a source of compressed air and an environmental control system (ECS). The most common source of compressed air for pressurization is bleed air extracted from the compressor stage of a gas turbine or turboprop propulsion engine, usually the second or third last compressor ring. By the time the cold outside air has reached this part of the compressor it has been adiabatically heated to around 200 °C (392 °F) and is at a very high pressure. It is then expanded and cooled to a suitable temperature by passing it through a heat exchanger and air cycle machine ('the packs system'). There is no need to further heat or refrigerate the air. Typically, compressed air is bled from at least two propulsion engines each system being fully redundant. Compressed air is also obtained from the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU), if fitted, in the event of an emergency and for cabin air supply on the ground before the main engines are started. Most modern commercial aircraft today have a fully redundant, duplicated electronic controller for maintaining pressurization along with a manual back-up system.

Normal commercial flights have a cabin pressure equal to 7,000 ft ASL. That's just enough to prevent passengers from getting altitude sickness, and the lower the cabin pressure the less stress on airframe. Just trivia for what it's worth.
Do you get paid while training to be a flight attendant?
No actually, the time you got hired by the airline all you needs from your clothing, health care, beautification, travel, shelter are in the airline. Even though you are a dead heading FA (an FA that is flying but not in duty) you are still free to fly. Also your family members husband/wife, son/daughter can fly free; while your mother/father and any of your relatives can get discounts on their flights. That is if you got hired by a legacy airline/traditional airline (e.g. American Airlines) all these things are possible but if you are hired by a no-frills airlines/low-cost airline (e.g. Southwest Airlines) I am not sure about all the free benefits, but one thing is for sure: you fly for free but you have to work!
