How much 12x12 ceramic tiles come to a box?

The sq ft per box as well as the # of tiles per box vary based on the manufacturer and the sub brand. But, generally, they tend to range from 10 to 20 per box for 12 x 12 tile. (the boxes are too heavy if there are more).

Often, for 12 x 12 tile, I see 11 and 15, but it will vary based on the item you select.

Can you install linoulem over laminate?

No. You have to glue your linoleum on the hard surface, but Laminate is a floating floor and always move.

How do you get shiny hardwood floors?

The best way to get shiny hardwood floors is to sand and refinish them and use a glossy (or semi gloss finish). Not only will your floors look glossy, but they will stay glossy looking even after you clean them. (If you floors are in good condition and don't have any scratches, an alternative is to screen & recoat where you just add another coat of polyurethane and you choose a glossy (or semi gloss finish).

Please note that some of the products out there that you can rub on and claim to give you a glossy finish will only give your floors a temporary sheen and that they use waxes and oils that will actually damage the finish/polyurethane on the floor and cause to refinish your floors sooner.

What is PGVT Tiles?

How do you lay 18mm Brazilian hardwood floor over a terrazzo floor?

Do you mean solid hardwood? You should not install 3/4" solid hardwood directly on top of terrazzo, or concrete or tile. Solid hardwood is supposed to be nailed into 3/4" plywood.

Now theoretically, you might be able to add 3/4" plywood in, if you can actually get it into the terrazzo. It is possible (but challenging) to add plywood into concrete using hilties, but it tends to be expensive and time consuming. Also, if you were to add plywood and solid hardwood, you would be raising your floor 1.5 inches. This may cause some height issues, especially for the doors (which might need to be shaved or replaced). If there is kitchen, this could cause height issues with appliances and/or cabinets.

However, if you mean an engineered hardwood, it could be floated on top of the terrazzo. You put an underlayment underneath and then install the wood on top. If it is a clickable engineered wood, then you just click it in; if it isn't, then you would glue the joints together.

What happens if you mop an engineered wood floor with soap and water and will it hurt the wood and why are wood ffoor cleaners better for cleaning engineered wood?

Mopping a wood floor with soap and water is deadly damage to the floor and certainly to the finish. Water should NEVER be used on wood.

use a manufacturer approved floor cleaner and never mop or pour it on.

How do you maintain floor polisher?

Can you put vinyl on top of tile?

No this is not advisable, As the tile has lines called grout lines, they are indented as is most of the tiles you buy. Then to ad the adhesive of the vinyl and then the vinyl you will have air trapped which will cause the vinyl to move , rip, and you wont like this either. It has to laid atop a clean dry dust and partical free area, as one tiny rock or nail head popping up can cause this to hole and tear.

However you can apply Vinyl Tile Atop of Tile flooring as long as you make sure to level the floor. The two (bottom & top) tiles must be even and level for this to happen, see my insert for this:

Inspect the ceramic tile for any loosened or damaged tiles. Repair small cracks or chips with liquid epoxy. Remove any severely damaged pieces and fill the gaps with liquid cement or mortar. Use only enough cement or mortar to bring the section even with the rest of the tiles; you must maintain a flat surface.

  • 2

Mix grout and water as instructed with your specific product; different products will require different mixtures of each. Use a grout trowel to add grout to the joints between the ceramic tiles, until they are completely even with the tile surfaces. Wipe any excess grout from the joints or the tiles with paper towels. Adding grout to the joints will give you a completely flat surface.

Install an underlayment if directed by your chosen vinyl product. Some vinyl tiles are designed to adhere directly to the old floor, while others will require a layer of plywood or other underlayment to control moisture and possible expansion or contraction.

  • 4

Sweep the floor clean to remove any dust or dirt from grouting or installing the underlayment. Any dirt or dust left on the surface can ruin the way the new tiles adhere to the surface.

  • 5

Lay vinyl tiles, beginning in the center of the floor and working your way out. If you are working in a large area, you may benefit from breaking the area into quadrants and working one section at a time.

  • 6

Pull away the wax paper backing of self-adhesive tiles and carefully lay the tile in place, rubbing firmly across the surface to encourage the adhesive to stick. If you are working with tiles that do not self-stick, use a trowel to spread a thin, even layer of adhesive on the ceramic or underlayment and press the tiles in to place.

  • 7

Cut tiles to size using a vinyl tile cutter to make tiles fit around vents or against the wall. Continue to install tile until the entire floor is covered.

  • 8

Roll the entire floor surface with a baker's roller to ensure that all areas stick equally.

  • 9

Allow the adhesive to dry for at least five days before washing, so that the glue has enough time to dry.

How many packs of laminate to cover a 15ftx12ft floor?

It depends on how many square feet of laminate are in each package. Your floor is 15 x 12 = 180 square feet. The box of laminate will list on the label how many square feet are in each box. Divide your square feet (180) by the square feet in the box (?), and you will have your answer.

Be sure to add about 7-10% for waste, and keep an extra box in storage to use if you ever damage part of the floor later.

What is the average labor cost for quarry tile installation in California?

It varies greatly from product to product and from market

to market. The best way to get an answer is to put an ad on Craigslist

telling what you want installed, the more detail you can give the better the quote will be... ie..

"3/4 inch, unfinished oak hardwood over wood subfloor,

new construction, 400 sq feet, need it done this week, paying cash.".

The lesson here is that the more detail you put in the ad, the better the quote.. You will have to understand that not every installer has Golden Hands, some are thieves & butchers, so you may not always want the low bidder..
