What can you call a frog other than frog?
There are essentially frogs and toads. All toads are frogs, but not all frogs are toads. Amphibians (Class Amphibia) contain the newts, salamanders, frogs, toads and cicilians. Anurans (Order Anura) contains the tail-less amphibians - the frogs and toads This further breaks down into the Buffonids (family bufonidae) and the other frogs of various family linages. So the short answer to your question is 'anurans'
What do you feed a wild baby baby frog?
Frogs will only eat live food, it must be moving before they see it as food. Small ants or fruit flies are good for tiny frogs, when they are slightly bigger they can be feed meal worms purchased from a local pet store.
If you have a big frog, then feed it superworms, mealworms, large crickets, and waxworms from a pet store, because those are pretty big. Medium sized frogs should have medium sized crickets and mealworms. Tiny frogs can have fruit flies and small ants. ALWAYS get your frog's food from a pet store, even if you have a wild one, because wild bugs could have diseases, and kill your frog.
No, most frogs are not poisonous. While some species of frogs do produce toxins on their skin as a defense mechanism, the majority of frog species are not harmful to humans or other animals. It's important to always be cautious when handling wild frogs to avoid any potential risks.
Some frogs, such as the African Reed Frog have been found to change gender, from female to male, when in environments low in male population. There is no evidence currently that the majority of frog species are capable of this change.
Frogs do not molt like some other animals do. Instead, they shed their skin periodically, which helps to keep their skin healthy and remove old skin cells. This shedding process is usually done in small pieces rather than all at once.
No, frogs cannot survive in hot water. Their bodies are not adapted to withstand high temperatures and they are very sensitive to changes in temperature. They require cooler, more moderate environments to thrive.
Frogs eat meat but because a ham doesn't move a frog is not able to see the ham. If you cut off long, thin strips of ham, so that they resemble an earthworm, and you move the strip of ham a little bit, the toad might think it is a worm and eat it.
It all depends on the frog. Some frogs can jump 2 inches, some can jump 5 feet.
A typical frog can jump almost a yard at a time.
The South American tree frog can jump over 20 times its body length, which is 1.2 meters. it maters how big it is
That is generally true what badac claimed, however I've interbred the two species and there is offspring.
I bred a male common toad with a female common frog, the offspring wasn't natural at all. The offspring resulted as a tadpole with tiny legs, only two survived and i released the frog, toad and frogtoads back into the wild.
Conclusion- A frog and toad can mate but only in captivity, also they need to be similar e.g. treefrog toad and frog, common toad and frog.
If a dog licks a frog or toad could the dog die?
A large dog, I would think not. It would just intoxicate them.
But if a small dog licked a frog or toad for a long amount of time, they could possibly become poisoned by the frog's defense chemicals. If the dog is still acting weird after an entire day, take him to a vet.
Yes this could happen...But I think it doesn't matter wether the dog is small or large but it could still 'posion' them...Whatever the size.I sugest that you don't let your dogslick toad's that are in a road.If it does just wash it's mouth out.Beckie14--What do butterflies and frogs have in common?
Both butterflies and frogs undergo metamorphosis in their development, transitioning from one life stage to another. They also both play a role in the ecosystem, as butterflies help with pollination and frogs help control insect populations. Additionally, they are both known for their diverse and colorful appearances.
The world's largest frog is the Goliath frog, which can grow up to 13 inches (33 centimeters) in length and weigh up to 7.2 pounds (3.3 kilograms). They are found in West African countries like Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon.
How many eggs do frogs have a year?
That depends on the species, the cane toad can lay up to 25,000 eggs a year, most species lay several hundreds tot a couple of thousands of eggs. Some frogs rather lay no more than a dozen of eggs because they carry their eggs with them for protection.
Frogs rid waste through a process called excretion. They excrete waste products, mainly ammonia and urea, through their skin and through their kidney function. The waste is primarily eliminated as urine or in the form of solid waste.
What does a pollywog looks like?
A pollywog, also known as a tadpole, is the larval stage of an amphibian, such as a frog or a toad. They typically have a long tail, no legs, and gills for breathing underwater. Over time, they undergo metamorphosis to develop into their adult form.
Frogs can stay underwater for varying lengths of time, depending on the species and environmental conditions. For example, some frogs can stay submerged for several hours by absorbing oxygen through their skin, while others have adaptations that allow them to hold their breath for long periods. On average, a frog can typically stay underwater for 15-30 minutes before needing to come up for air.
Frogs accessory structures in the nose?
Frogs do not have accessory structures in their noses like humans. They have a simple nasal cavity that ends in two small openings called external nares through which they breathe. The lining of the nasal cavity helps them to detect chemical cues in their environment.
Can different breeds of frog be kept together in a tank Are there any frogs that eat other frogs?
Yes, some frogs are specialist frog predators. As a general rule dont mix frogs that are significantly different in size. If you think that one frog could fit in the mouth of another frog, it probably will. Dont over crowd the tank either. 3-4 frogs in a three foot tank would be plenty depending upon the size of the frogs.
Frogs do not typically hibernate, as they are ectothermic and can regulate their body temperature by moving to warmer locations. Some dogs may enter a state resembling hibernation called torpor, especially in extreme cold conditions, but this is not a true hibernation as seen in some other animals.
In frogs, the transversus abdominis muscle is a thin, flat muscle located in the abdominal region. It runs horizontally across the abdomen and helps with trunk flexion and compression of the abdominal viscera. It is part of the muscle group responsible for supporting and stabilizing the frog's body during movement.
Can you catch a wort from a frog peeing on you?
No. And only toads pee on your hands, they do it for defence. And I have had my hands peed on by toads TON of times an i never got ONE wart from them. Frogs and Toads are one of my favorite animals.
What is the longest record jump for a frog?
The longest recorded jump for a frog is around 3.3 meters, achieved by a species of frog called Rana temporaria (common frog). Frogs use their powerful hind legs to propel themselves forward in a leap.
What defense mechanism do have the frogs?
Frogs typically use camouflage, toxins in their skin, and jumping ability as defense mechanisms to protect themselves from predators. Some species of frogs can also puff themselves up to appear larger when threatened.
What type of animals hunt frog as their prey?
There is a variety of animals that hunt frogs. Animals that hunt frogs as prey include snakes, lizards, birds, and various small mammals such as hedgehogs and swimming mammals such as water shrews. Fish will prey on frogs, as will a variety of diving and wading birds. Other frogs also eat frogs. Young, small crocodiles also eat frogs.

Hi, this is Another new person. I went out to get some fire wood with my parents and they were using a chainsaw to cut the logs. Then my mum handed me a frog with three of it's legs cut off. We tried to help it as much as we could. It's out back where we found it now, and we poured some water around it. It had stopped bleeding. Is there any hope for this frog ?
