What animals can Tokay geckos live with?

A reptile cannot be housed with a species of a different environment. There would be too many different living conditions to sustain two or more different species. Example: Humidity, temperature, substrates diet etc...

Animals of the same regions can (with exceptions: size of tank, enough food to sustain multiple diets, multiple hiding spots etc..) be housed together. Even in the case of two species being together, they must be monitored, and should only be done by intermediate - expert reptile keepers

In this case the leopard coming from arid deserts of Afghanistan will not be able to co-exist with the high levels of humidity a Tokay gecko would require.

Yes - crickets have very little mineral content in their bodies - dusting them with a vitamin powder will ensure your gecko gets sufficient minerals on top of the nutrition the crickets provide. Additionally, feeding the crickets with a varied diet of their natural food will make them a better meal for the lizard.

What should you name my gecko?

Well, when I am naming my leos, I usually pick something that has to do with either:

Where you got it

What it looks like

What you were doing when you got it.

For instance, one of my leopard geckos names is Bee. Why? Because when I first got him, he had black and yellow patches (A normal Jungle)

His mates name is Daisy, because it matches his name. When you are naming your leo, try not to name it, just let the name, come to you. Spend some time with your gecko. Eventually, you will know what to name it.

What plants growing in nz are safe to put in your leopard gecko terrarium?

The leopard gecko is a species that comes from an arid/dry area. The minimal shrubbery that their landscape consists of are nothing similar to that of New Zealand's. In order to sustain a plant from New Zealand, their would need soil, lots of water and humidity and in all truth, that's not what these geckos are custom to. It would be the best solution to purchase fake / plastic plants to decorate you leopard geckos terrarium.

Does a Madagascar day gecko migrate?

Any gecko species let alone the Giant Day's will not migrate. The Giant day geckos is native to the Madagascar region. The Giant Day Geckos (Phelsuma madagascariensis grandis) thrive in a habitat from 76 F - 80 F, and the climate in Madagascar suites every one of their needs. MOST reptiles are unable to adapt to another environment, if they do, they are considered to be an invasive species in most cases. The Boa's native to Asia, are now adapted to the everglades of Florida, Or the Tokay gecko now adapted to Florida's conditions. These animals were not endemic to these regions but due to reptile hobbyist's releasing their pets, animals escaping etc.. they are now able to "cope" with the environment they are provided with. If Global warming were to make the Climate crash, in that case, the reptiles would need to relocate to survive.

How does a Madagascar Day Gecko protect itself?

Phelsuma madagascariensis grandis Or Madagascar Giant Day Gecko are an omnivore species. Relying on fallen fruits, saps, pollens, and insects their jaws have been built to eat it all. Their jaw structures are none in comparison to a Tokay gecko but they do have a snap. The Phelsuma species are diurnial, meaning they're active throughout the daytime hours. They have plenty of predators in their region ranging from birds to spiders, or even other reptile species. For these reasons the Day geckos are lightning fast. A giant day gecko will ward a oncoming predator by making a very wide variety of vocalizations. If one is persistent and continues to pursue the day gecko, their legs kick into action and in a matter of a second or two, the day gecko has reached top velocity and out of harm.
