Why does your leopard gecko try to escape her cage?

Yes. It can be handled. Put one hand in front of the gecko. Then, with the other hand, nudge it so that it goes onto your hand. Keep ypur hands still, and if it looks scared, cup one hand over it so it feels more secure. Never grab by its tail, as it will drop off. I would advise holding it with your hands inside its tank/cage, so if it tries to jump off your hands it will land in its cage and can't run away. At first the gecko will not like being held. Keep handling it and eventually it will get used to it and not jump down all the time.

How long does it take for a gecko to get to know its habit?

The crested gecko is a solitary reptile. When introduced into a new environment, surroundings or terrarium they must go through an acclimation period. What this means, is that the crested gecko will take anywhere from 2-6 weeks to adjust to their new home. During this period, the animal may or may not eat as much as normal, be as active as they usually would or may even be darker in coloration as they are experiencing a little bit of stress. Don't be alarmed. Be sure to check your terrarium daily for excrement being left behind. This will allow you to have a peace of mind and to rest assure that the animal is eating and is healthy, but is just taking some time to acclimate. During this 2-6 week period, the animal is also "quarantined" meaning; that they are not exposed to other geckos/ animals. this will give the animal more than enough time to get used to it's own surroundings, while you as the keeper, are ensuring the health of all your previously owned animals. Sometimes when purchasing a new gecko, internal or external parasites can be transfer from one animal to another. The 6 week period will ensure that there can be no exchange in parasites.

How old is the oldest leopard gecko?

Why are your leopard gecko eggs dented?

I bred bluebelly lizards and this is just fine. It is actually a good sign. It means that the eggs were treaded on and didnt break, or that the mother checks on them. Lizard eggs are very much similar to Chinese paper lanterns and easily dent. i would suggest, though, that you make sure they are not being treaded on very often later in the gestation period. A few time a day or so is just fine, but not about maybe 3+ and hour. if so, you may wat to (carefully) move the eggs to a less traveled area. Make sure it is still sunny but not constantly, and my suggestion on moving it is taking a chuck of the ground its on instead of scooting the eggs themselves.

Can leopard gecko and a marble gecko live in same cage?

Marbled Gecko (Christinus mamoratus) are endemic to the southern regions of Australia, Their temperatures are an ambient 80-85F with a basking spot of 92-95F. Humidity levels must reach 75% for 2-6hours daily. This Aboreal species loves to hide in rock crevices, mountain ranges and under debris.

Leopard Gecko (Eublepharis macularius) are endemic to Asia. Their temps are an ambient 70-80F with a basking spot of 88-94F. Leopard geckos do not require humidity though. In fact 75% humidity could lead to respitory problems.

The animals are coming from two dramatically different climates. Only species of the same region CAN be housed together. This should still only be done as a advanced/expert reptile keeper.

Different species should never be housed together, as all gecko species are territorial.

What kind of habitat do geckos like you in their cage?

Depending on the species of gecko will determine what type of habitat the animal is going to require. A leopard gecko or fat tailed gecko need a lot of heat and next to zero humidity with rocky surfaces to scale. A crested gecko would require no heating lights and 1-2 mistings dailly to retain moisture.

Some geckos live in a rainforest habitat, others live in a dry/desert climate.
