George Strait

Every writer writes their own songs. George does write songs, but his most successful and upper chart songs for the most part (if not all) have been written by Nashville songwriters. Dean Dillon being one of George's most successful writers has penned quite a few. Other notables would inclue Hal Neuman (songwriting 'professer' at Middle Tenn. State University), Baby Your Baby, and Pam Belford, If I Know Me. Many are not so fortunate as the past mentioned names. But in a city of over one million people it is said that 10% of us are songwriters. All of us long for success and less than 5% achieve the level of simply having a 'cut' (song recorded). Many, if not most of the 'famous' songs heard on the radio are not written by the artists, but instead by professional songwriters. So do us all a favor and hug a songwriter daily.

Jenifer Strait, George Strait's 13-year-old daughter, died in an automobile accident on June 25, 1986.

She was riding in a car with her friends when the driver lost control of the car, and the car rolled over. Jenifer's window was open and she did not have a seatbelt.

The book The Beatles: An Illustrated Record shows a photo of George in his early teens, wearing glasses. He did not wear any during the Beatles years, except for sunglasses.

No the wonderful lady Doris Jean Leiber died a fews years back in Lawrenceville. I knew Jean personally and she was one of the best women I ever knew.

Once, in 1969, by the same Drugs Squad sergeant who had arrested John Lennon and Yoko Ono months earlier (and allegedly planted the found drugs in both places). Harrison's then-wife Pattie answered the door and permitted the search; a block of hashish was discovered in one of Harrison's shoes in a closet, by a sniffer dog named Yogi.

Harrison was in the middle of a recording session, and left to come home. He and Pattie were taken to the police station, booked, then released. Harrison went to court days later, paid the fine, and told the media on his way out that he hoped the police "will now leave the Beatles alone".
