How did glenn becks mom commit suicide?

Beck has described his mother's death as a suicide in interviews during television and radio broadcasts. When it comes right down to it, Glenn is not absolutely certain that she committed suicide since the only potential eyewitness to her actions also died. Still he considered the evidence sufficient to conclude that she probably did herself in. On May 15, 1979, his mother drowned in Puget Sound. The only other person with her in the small boat she out in also drowned so there were no surviving eyewitnesses. A Tacoma police report stated that Mary Beck "appeared to be a classic drowning victim", but a Coast Guard investigator speculated that she could have intentionally jumped overboard. Since she had a history of alcoholism, it is consistent that she could have been suicidal.

Why hasn't the Mormons excommunicated Glen Beck for the damage he's done to the image of the church?

A previous poster wrote, "Because the LDS Church does not Excommunicate someone for their political views."

This is incorrect. Take the case of Sonia Johnson. She was excommunicated for her direct and vocal involvement in support of the ERA in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

The reason the LDS Church has not excommunicated Beck is because it only doles out sentences of excommunication for political views that challenge the stated political positions of the Church. If you engage in inflammatory political speech that does not attack the Church, no matter how much harm you cause to others, you will probably be left alone and not face any Church sanctions. However, if you start promoting a political ideology that is at odds with the Church's stance on anything (feminism, gay rights, etc.), then you will likely face disfellowshipping, if not excommunication.

Beck, despite his un-Christian and un-Christlike inflammatory hate speech, which was directly tied to the motive of a San Francisco shooter in July 2010, has not attacked the Church or Church policies. Therefore, he has been left alone by Church hierarchy.

Does glen beck have a mental illness?

(1)No he does not. Although the way he acts can seem goofy, if you listen to him, sometimes he makes sense.

another POV

(2) Mr. Beck has a 10th grade education and admits to having had a serious drug problem as a young man. He has secured a GED and has overcome his addictions.

Sadly, sometimes drug addictions can have lasting affects that can happen after the addiction is beaten. These include an inability to concentrate on one topic for period of time, an unwarranted sense of paranoia, a "messiah" complex in which one thinks they can save the world, and certain unexplained social behaviors, such as for no apparent reason giggling in the middle of a conservation. Often recovering addicts have "tunnel vision" in which they may believe so much in a theory that they "spin" true facts or simply fabricate "facts" to fit their theory.

Although his mental illness has often been speculated on in public, he is a very successful businessman and his radio program has a large following, Even if one believes he has mental disorders, he has demonstrated that he can function as a family man and a member of society.

Is glen becks daughtger Mormon?

At the time of Glen Beck's conversion to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) his two daughters from his first marriage, Mary and Hannah, attended with him, and he has said that part of the reason he joined the church was because his daughter Mary loved it so much. His daughter through his second marriage, Cheyenne, attends church with the family as she is only 8 years old (as of 2014).

Beck's older daughters are adults now, and I do not believe that Hannah continues to be a practicing Mormon but Glenn does a good job of keeping his daughter's personal information private.
