If you mean the original Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, it was because of the dinosaurs in the game. Apparently putting dinosuars in a game at the time was enough to warrant a Mature rating. The newer 2008 Turok was rated M because of the bloody scences and violent deaths.

Odin was the God of war for ... greedy purposes. For the purpose of revenge, or wealth. To him, it was more important to win the war, then the means. The ends justify the means.
Tyr was the God of war for Justice, for Honor. For Tyr, the means dictated who won the war, regardless of the victor. To give up your honor for the purpose of victory meant you already lost.

After slaughtering the majority of the Olympians and Titans (e.g Gaia, Hades etc), Kratos catches up with Zeus. After killing Gaia, Kratos impales her with a blade which also hits Zeus. Zeus then reveals that Pandoras box contained 'hope', which was seen as an evil thing. Athena demands power back from Kratos which she claimed he stole when he opened Pandora's box. Unwilling to do so, Kratos impales himself with the blade of Olympus.

After the credits, there's a trail of blood which leads away from the Blade of Olympus. This way, the fate of Kratos is unknown.

When you come out of the hydra's mouth the get the Captain's Key, you go the the left and climb up the pile of boxes. Grab onto the rope and climb up. Grab what's in the treasure chests and then turn around and walk to the edge of the platform you are standing on. Jump up on that rope and slide down it to a different ship. There you will find the door that the people were trapped behind earlier.

In the past Kratos was loosing a war, but he was too proud to die so he called to Ares (The previous god of War) asking him to destroy the opposing army in exchange for Krato's eternal devotion. Ares took this oppritunity without hesitation and accepted. But Ares wanted Kratos to be the perfect soldier for him without weakness which was his wife and child. So Ares brainwashed Kratos into killing his wife and child, and into burning there bodies.

It's horiffic. Seriously, I nearly had a heart attack at the bit when Kratos and Hera... you know, the shower repair scene...

and in god of war 2, Kratos fights a shirtless Euryale and, well you know, Euryale is a woman. With no shirt or bra.

The God of War was Ares. But in the video games, you are Kratos, a Spartan Leader, and you have to kill Ares. Once you do that Kratos is the new God Of War. Kratos is the champion of the Gods. That means Kratos fought his gory battles for the Gods and for the glory of Sparta.
