What is PCI-X?

PCI Express is a bus for connecting peripherals to a motherboard internally. It is designed to provide higher performance / bandwidth than either PCI or AGP. Video cards, Ethernet cards, SCSI controllers, and sound cards are all available for this bus. PCI Express slots come in several different size, each designed to provide higher bandwidth. Cards designed for the smaller slots will work in the larger ones as well.

PCI express is a expansion slot on your motherboard used to accomidate expansion cards ( sound video modems and other things) it Has a fast buss speed to run newer faster video cards for gameing and advanced video editing. It is a second generation to a standard PCI developed to replace and be more versitile than the current AGP (accelerated graphics port) but many new motherboards come with both AGP and multiple combos of PCI and PCI express slots.

What is the function of a PCI cards?

PCI stands for Personal Computer Interface, and it is the current standard for most types of non-video expansion ability in computers. The cards themselves allow you to expand the operations of your computer; for example, adding more hard drives, better sound output, and extra USB ports. The cards connect to the motherboard through built in slots and have a direct path to the processor.

Difference between microchip and microprocessor?

1.Microprocessors are general purpose digital computers. Micro controllers are special purpose digital computers. 2.Microprocessors contain CPU, memory addressing circuits and interrupt handling circuits. Micro controllers contain all these features as well as timers, parallel and serial i/o, and internal RAM and ROM. 3.Microprocessors have one or two types of bit handling instructions. Micro controllers will have many. 4.Microprocessors have many opcodes for moving data from external memory to the CPU. Micro controllers may have one or two.
The basic difference between the microprocessor and microcontroller is that we can interface a microcontroller directly means "for example we can directly connect a keyboard to microcontroller to any of its ports"....where as for microprocessor we can't interface directly...we require a circuit board since it requires ram,ic's.....etc.,! beyrojac mahinay
- In Microprocessor more op-codes, few bit handling instructions. But in Microcontroller: fewer op-codes, more bit handling Instructions, and also it is defined as a device that includes micro processor, memory, & input / output signal lines on a single chip.

How do you setup cmos?

Most computers have a keystroke (usually esc, del, or F12) that will interrupt the boot sequence when you start your computer. In the past, this would be when the white text flies across the screen displaying memory available, hard disk sizes, etc. This will get you into the BIOS for "cmos setup".

CMOS is a type of memory that does not lose its data on power loss. In earlier computers, this is where the boot up configuration was stored; hence the phrase, "setup cmos"

What is better Nvidia 8400M G or Intel GMA 4500M?

Eh, Dude!! Go with Nvidia 8400m as there is no need to think over it. If you really wanna know why am I saying this then click the link below. It is my whole year experience with Intel X3100 : http://lnk.in/X3100 {if you can't click then paste the code in address bar}.

How can you install a graphics card on an Intel D945GCPE motherboard?

As the motherboard has only two expansion slots, both PCI, your options are rather limited. You would need to purchase a PCI graphics card, which probably isn't worth the money.

Will a 16x card work in 8x slot?

You cannot plug a x16 graphics card into a x8 slot. You can however, if you wish, plug an x8 card PCIe card into an x16 slot. A p-lane PCIe card will work at some speed in an n-lane PCIe slot, where n > p. This is not true if n < p. So in this situation the card wants 16 lanes but the motherboard can only support 8 For more specific answers though, please post more detailed info such as make and model of hardware

What does a pci look like?

The PCI bus can be used for a wide variety of devices, so obviously not all PCI cards look exactly the same. Due to technical limitations, an image of a PCI card cannot be displayed in the answer, but example images are linked to below.

Can you install a new graphics card in a laptop?

With very few exceptions, no as the video chip is hard soldered on the main system board (motherboard).

Exceptions:

You can only change a card that is already dedicated, which means it does NOT use shared memory and is NOT made by intel.

Yes, you can ONLY upgrade Nvidia an ATI cards in a laptop.

If its not soldered to the mainboard you have to get a card from the same brand and model, such as with Dell and most Toshiba laptops.

Or maybe you have a special laptop that uses a standardized interface called MXM. Almost all ACER laptops that have a model ending in G use MXM.

Alienware, HP elitebooks 15" and 17" also use MXM. there is MXM 2.1 and 3.0 which are incompatible with each other, and there are different sizes of each.

There is also a way to connect a desktop graphics card to your notebook and run it with an HDTV like a gaming system but better. Its not expensive or difficult, here is a guide:

Can You Install A New Video Card Into Your laptop?

It depends on the computer model, it would require you to disassemble the laptop swap video cards then reassemble the laptop and this would be likely damage the computer. I too have looked into this.

What keystrokes did you use to access CMOS setup?

It varies by computer/motherboard manufacturer. If it is a system from a well known company like HP, Dell, Acer, etc, you can look on their web pages and generally get the answer.

Alternately, many times you can press esc when the first splash screen appears and it will show you the actual DOS boot process. If so, look at the bottom of the screen on the left hand side for message on what key to press to enter setup. On my particular system, you have to press F2.

What is dpi in graphics?

DPI stands for Dots Per Inch.....

How do you make Graphics processing faster?

To make graphics processing faster adding more physical RAM will help. The best fix is to add a specific graphics card with a large amount of RAM and a fast processor.

Why won't computer recognize video card?

Have you installed it correctly?

What hardware are you connecting?

The device may need a 'driver' which most likely came on a CD with the device.

If there is no CD, try looking for a download from the device manufacturer's website. Have you installed it correctly?

Does Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 support pixel shader 1.1?

Yes, the GeForce 4 series was the first to feature pixel shading. After that there were vast improvements and now the GTX 200 series fully supports DirectX 10 and Pixel Shader 4.0.

For simplicity's sake, I am assuming you are describing a laptop video card. As far as I know there is no desktop video card with that model number.

How do you get to video card settings?

You first have to know what brand of graphics card you have. On Windows, right click on the normal desktop screen, and you will see you graphics card's control panel as a option. Click it. On another operating system search fro the control panel in this form: "Insert graphics card brand here Control Panel".

*Graphics cards and Video cards are the same thing.

Is there such thing as an external graphics card for laptops?

This is similar to a question that was asked earlier last month-

AS far as I know there are two companies which make external graphic cards for laptops. One is Asus, which makes the XG Station. The other is MSI which designed the Luxium. Both cards have their individual enclosures which have sound & USB connections. Both need individual power supplies and connect to the laptop via the ExpressCard slot.

I'm not sure of the specs on either card so I'd recommend doing some research.

Will pcie x16 graphics cards work with pcie 2.0x16 motherboards?

Yes this will work,

however keep in mind that PCI-e 1.0 has a data rate limit of 250MB/s ,

and PCI-e 2.0 has a data rate limit of 500MB/s,

So using a 2.1 card in a 1.0 bus limit it's data rate,

and will not utilise the card to the fullest of it's capabilities.
