Apparently the first wall ever build in China was the wall of Qi (not Qin!), build in 400 bc. Although it didn't look the same way like we know the wall from tv or pictures. It was more like a mass of dirt.

Emperor Qin Shi Huang of Qin dynasty ordered the construction of great wall of China around 221 BC but it could not be completed. The idea was revived in Ming era in 14th century and completed. It was meant to be a defense against Mongols from North.

It has changed because the one child policy that had been there since 1979 has now been slightly relaxed by the Chinese Government so that couples can now apply to have a second child if there first child was a girl or if they are both an only child. Because it is an amazing feat to build something that enormous. It's kind of like why we go to see the pyramids or to Stonehenge. We admire the work that it took to build something like that before modern engineering, plus it is recognizable and something that people mention about a particular country, so it becomes a tourist destination.

People say that the Great Wall of China is haunted, people suffer nausea (I suffer from that), some people fell like being followed, and some people also faint, while others have reported seeing apparitions, being grabbed, punched and slapped! Most of the people say that it is haunted by the people who died during the process of building this magnificent thing.

the messages were sent by people. there would be towers that a people would drop their messages off at, and the people that were in the towers would then pass the message on, therefore it would travel up and down the wall.

The Great Wall of China was build to protect China from invaders called mongols. Because China refused to trade with them the mongols would invide their villages, taking food and burning villages. China decided it was best to play defence and built a giant wall, keeping the mongols out of their city.

The Qin and Han recipe for building a pounded-earth hang-t’u wall was fairly simple:

1. Construct a wall frame roughly 30’ long, 25’ wide, 20’ high.2. Spread a layer of dirt within the frame.

2. Pound the dirt until it is 6”– 8” thick.

3. Repeat with as many layers as necessary to fill the frame.

4. Remove frame and repeat process for several hundred miles
