What happens if you don't play with your hamster?

If you dont play with your hamster it will quickly get very lonely and therefore more vicious. If you have one hamster it will get more lonely as at least with two, they have eachother. You must play with your hamster i you want it to lead a happy normal life. I guess giving it treats or letting run around your room is better that not playing with it at all because at least then it gets some freedom and a different scenery. But playing with your hamster is always better!

How do you tame a Chinese hamster?

== == Even these little creatures have their own individual personalities and some hamsters loved to be handled or run up and down their owner while others don't. When hibernation time comes they may get a little moody and just want to rest. You need to pick up a book at a pet store or go on the Internet to learn more about Hamster's habits. It may take patience and not too much handling right off the bat so your hamster can get use to you. Many people are afraid of hamsters because you simply do not know if they are going to bite, or wriggle away, before handling him/her, wash your hands with soap and warm water to get rid of food smells. Hamsters eyesight is extremely poor, so they use their nose to find food, so if your hand smells like food they are likely to bite it. If you are frightened just take a deep breath. Then place your hand inside their cage and gently cup your hands around him/her. Lift them out of their cage, corner of a part of a room with boxes, or items that your hamster will not be able to climb over, and make sure this space is big enough for you and your hamster. Sit inside the space and let go of the hamster, and every now and then pick him/her up,like you did when you got him/her out of the cage, and bring them back near to you. This way they do not run off, and they get used to your handling to them. Lay little treats out in this space too so they can eat, and feed them little treats too so they know you do not want to harm them, but you want to care for them. I know this may sound silly, but talk to them too, don't shout, just use a soft, calm voice, and they will soon get used to your voice, which will make them more comfortable around you. Do this as much as you can, the more you do it, the more they will get used to you. However, do not wake them up to handle them because they will then get grumpy, and they are then more prone to bite you.

How many babies does a hamsters have?

How do you get your hamster to follow you?

you get a peice of food and put it on the ground your hamster will sniff it and go right to you11works like a charm!!

If your hamster is in a room and the door was closed when it got loose, just stay perfectly still. Try to listen for scratching sounds. If not, scratch any dresser or deks type thing and listen. If you hear it, look EVERYWHERE you hear it. In droors, behind droors. Basically behind, in, or under anything you can think of that's nearby

By hamsterluver224:

Yes, I also think the old bucket trick works too. You put up a plank or something and a bucket baited with yummy food. Your hamster will walk up the ramp and fall into the bucket. Start looking in common hamster hiding places, like under droors, under beds, in bookcases, etc. My hamsters usually hide there. If you cannot find it there, look in unusual places like in blankets, in shoes, and in wrapping paper tubes. Or, you can leave its cage door poen with a trail of sunflower seeds leading to the cage and it will fall asleep in its cage by the next morning. Or, if you have more than one hammy, put a new nesting box in the cage and put the old one outside its cage with bedding. Or, you can buy harmless trap hotels for mice and bait it with treats.

Good Luck!

oh whats above `might work but make shure you put your hamster cage on the ground AND PUT WATER IN IT!
