-Wet tail is when a hamster gets diarrhea, which means all the water in it's tiny body is coming out in it's feces. This is highly dangerous, because now the hamster does not have any water in it's body and is becoming weaker and weaker, and gets dehydrated. Eventually, the hamster gets too weak to come get some of his water or food... leaving nothing to keep him/her alive.

-Diarrhea is just something hamsters get. Humans get it, but when hamster's do.. it's life threatening.

-You can cure it by everyday examining his feces. If it is too moist, runny, or soft you should be concerned. You don't have to take it to the vet, just take the hamsters water bottle (should have came with the cage, if you don't have one, I suggest you run down to your local pet store and by an individual one.) up to wherever the hamster is laying, and let it suck some water out until it seems satisfied. You should probably do this every half hour to keep it hydrated. (Just think if you were a tiny little creature, with no strength left to walk... you would want to be pampered so you don't... well, die!) Also, bring some food up to the hamster... and pretty soon the little guy/girl will have enough strength to take care of itself! For a week or two, really examine and observe your hamster (especially it's feces!). If everything is normal and your little buddy is running around and being itself again after a week or so, then congratulations, you just saved your pets life!

-If you do this, and things don't seem to be getting any better, or seem to be getting worse, definitely take it to a vet right away.

Leave them alone. The mother will take care of her babies. You should not touch the cage, mother or babies for at least 2 weeks. Give the babies and mother nutritious foods. and wait till they are 14 days old to pick them up.
Take any other hamsters out of the cage and give her access to bedding so she can make a proper nest.

One would assume that they would be similar to those of humans and other larger animals. Blacking out, dizziness, impaired movement, confusion, vomiting, difficulty waking up, convulsions, coma and abnormal behavior would all be things to look for.

Well, for a hamster to have a concussion, it must've taken a fall. Therefore no fall, no concussion.

Since hamster's can't puke or anything, it's hard to tell. If your hamster is kind of out of it, not walking straight, disoriented, it just might have a concussion.

However, you should take your hamster to the vet. They probably won't charge you anything if they don't do anything besides diagnose, so don't worry about the cost. Either way simple hamster procedures (sorry, I couldn't think of another word. I mean like putting on a little cast kinda of idea) only cost $50 or less.

I don't think that they'll be needing to do any of that, they'll just give you any advice if your hamster does have a concussion.

The animal is perfectly fine, until it knows you are there, or interact with it - and that is when their behaviour will change, in a positive or negative way. As said above, it all depends on how you handle the creature. Treat it with respect, it'll be friendly with good training, wake it up by clancking on its bars during the day and shove your finger near its face (They have a very good sense of hearing, and not very good eye sight, so they will mistake your finger as food) it'll bite the thing, and I don't blame them. It's not a case of them being nasty...

You don't. It is very aware of it's hygene and will groom itself. If you wash it, it might die because the natural oils on its body will be washed away. And that is the good thing about hamsters. ;) P.S. If you have a long haired hamster, you will need to have a hamster brush to groom it. hamster will give birth from 4-20 and im not exactly sure but labor for the first baby should be 5-15 min. because after each baby they rest for that long, i really hope that answers your queastion

It is 4-30-09 and our little Bubbles was fine last night!Now tonight she is dragging her legs in a delay action and breathing hard-she is 2yrs old but she was perfectly great last night. She is still sweet and won't bite- I think I will call vet in a.m. if not to late!

You should probably tell your parents or whatever and see if you can take your hamster to the vet and get it taken care of. Sounds like the growth of a cyst. While usually not very dangerous to the animal, it can present problems and shuold be seen by a professional. There is no home remedy for this one.

well my hamsters had babys and mine smelt aswell but i had to leave it like that until atleast the babys are 2 weeks old because if you dissturb them in any way they may not be able to bond with there mother or they could get rejected by there mothers due to ur scent you might just have to sprat frshener round the area but not in the cage or by it just to keep the smel at bay
