How did Fort St. Louis affect the future history of exploration and settlement in Texas?

Fort St. Louis, established by French explorer René-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle in 1685, marked the first significant European settlement in Texas. Its establishment prompted Spanish authorities to strengthen their presence in the region, leading to increased exploration and the eventual founding of missions and settlements. The fort's eventual decline highlighted the challenges of sustaining European colonies in Texas, influencing future settlement patterns and interactions among European powers. Ultimately, Fort St. Louis served as a catalyst for the Spanish colonization efforts that shaped the future of Texas.

Debt in Texas history?

After the many wars that Texas fought to gain their independence from Mexico they had alot of dept. Sam Houston was the first president of the Republic of Texas. He helped Texas get out of some of the dept but not all of it. Since each president could only have 2 years per term Sam Houston could not be elected again. The second president of Texas was M. B. Lamar, he however put Texas in more dept than what is was after Sam Houston's first term. After M. B. Lamar's 2 year term Sam Houston became the president of the Republic of Texas. Again Sam Houston helped Texas out of dept but not completely. The 4th term president of the Republic of Texas was Anson Jones. Jones was not president long before Texas became the 28th state of the Unites States. The United States helped Texas out of dept.

When Texas wanted to be annexed be the United States some Americans refused because they didn't want to pay the dept that Texas was in. At some point Texas was annexed by the United States, and then became dept free.

History of the Texas horned lizard?

Colorado Division of Wildlife currently considers the Texas horned lizard a species of special concern. From May 1995 to October 1997, Texas horned lizards were captured or collected during the active season from 6 counties in Colorado to document abundance and distribution of the species. We captured or collected 290 Texas horned lizards (170 alive and 120 dead on road). In Colorado, average snoutvent length (SVL) for adult males was not significantly different from females; the largest male and female lizards measured 84.9 mm SVL and 90.4 mm SVL, respectively. The sex ratio of adult males to adult females is 1M:1.4F. Results of distribution and habitat analysis indicated that the Texas horned lizard in Colorado is locally common in arid shortgrass and sand-sage prairie lacking ground litter. Activity of the Texas horned lizard in Colorado is diurnal in spring and fall and bimodal (almost crepuscular) in the summer. Texas horned lizards in Colorado apparently breed in May and June, and hatchlings emerge in late August to mid-September. Mortality due to vehicle traffic seems high, but because the Texas horned lizard occurs in remote areas, the Colorado population in general seems to be relatively stable.
