You have to be very carefully taking benzodiazepines (Xanax, Valium, Ativan etc.) with opioids (hydrocodone, oxycodone, morphine etc.). Benzodiazepines and opioids are commonly used together for legitamite reasons however abuse of multiple drugs increases risk of serious, even life threatening side effects. Large numbers of deaths due to an overdose are attributed to polysubstance abuse, particularly opioids and benzodiazepines. When the drugs are prescribed and used appropriately they are typically safe.

I believe so,My GP has me on Norco 10/325mg 1-2 x 4 a day and Doxepin 25mg x 3 day. If they weren't a good combination I don't think he'd be giving me those at the same time. I am about to find out though since i just acquired the Doxepin.

Yes. I have been on both for 18 months following. Interrestingly, low doses of hydrocodone helps with side effects of Effexor withdrawls if they are severe. Two psychiatrists confirmed this to me - however, very few physicians are going to put someone on hydrocodone for this - this is one of those "off-label" treatments. Low doses of oxycodone (powerful analgesia) are very good for those who suffer terribly with Effexor cessastion. It won't happen though. Unless your doc knows what it is like to come off Effexor

They are the same. Both have the same amount of Hydrocodone. The only difference is that Vicodin has 300mg more Acetaminophen. Acetaminophen compliments the effect of Hydrocodone, so it can feel stronger but is worse for your liver. 675mg is nothing to worry about but go with the Norco for recreation.

tramadol is not an opiate its opiod like- very different. and they can be taken together at low dosage ranges under MD supervision. Its not recommended however. the top paragraph is correct

Hydromorphone does not have acetaminophen or Tylenol and Vicodin does. Some people take Hydromorphone for all day pain relief and the Vicodin for break-thru pain.

You cannot mix any medication that has acetaminophen with Vicodin or anything that has acetaminophen in it, and should always take drugs only under a doctor's care.

Both Fioricet and Vicodin are prescription medicines and can sometimes be used for Migraine attacks. Both medicines can also cause medication overuse headache if not used sparingly. Triptans are now the firstline drugs for Migraines. Whether fioricet or vicodin is better for your Migraine is dependent upon the patient. Only a doctor can diagnose or initiate treatment of Migraine Headaches with prescription medications.

They would NOT be fine from just one! If your infant takes Vicodin, call 911 and Poison Control IMMEDIATELY! They would become sleepy, have shallow breathing. it depends on the method that you take the drug. if you crush up the pill and snort it you will start to feel the effects within 5-10 min and peak within 20-30 min. If you just swallow it it can take 30-40 min just for the onset. but everyone is slightly different. i would recommend parachuting the painkiller though it is about as fast as snorting and there really is not too much of an onset and it will hit u like a freight train.

most drug tests do not differentiate between the specifics and give general results like opiates, benzodiazepines etc... hydrocodone and oxycodone are both opiates, however, there are tests that can and DO differentiate the specifics and they are ordered per situation and policy of the entity that is ordering the test in the first place.

I guess it would be okay for you to take a vicodin after 48 hours of you not taking any suboxone. Suboxone has a long half life and that means it stays in your system for a long period of time. First of all, why would you want to only be on suboxone for a week? suboxone doesn't work in a week. And if it does work for you in a week then why would you want to touch a vicodin again??

Potency wise, hydromorphone is roughly 7-8 times stronger than hydrocodone when administered IV, and almost as much stronger when taken orally. Hydromorphone comes in short acting preparations (Dilaudid) only. For a brief time there was a long acting preparation on the market that was pulled back when it was learned that, when taken with alcohol, the long-acting mechanism broke down causing all the med to be released into the bloodstream at once. In some cases the results were fatal.

Yes, but no more than that. If you know taking more than 8mg of ibuprofen in 6-8 hours (3200 mg in 24 hours) is too much. More than 1000 mg acetaminophen in 6-8 hours (4000 mg in 24) is too much. That tab has 750 mg acetaminophen and it will be mixed with 800 mg of ibuprofen which mixed is getting close to the limit.

My Dr/Surgeon prescribed Lyrica for my leg pain after a spinal fusion and I specifically asked him this question because I had been taking vicodin for pain. He said it would be ok to do so. The only thing you have to be aware of is that they both can make you drowsey so you shouldn't be planning to do much of anything until you are sure of how it is going to make you feel.

The biggest difference is their potency - Demerol is a DEA Schedule 2 controlled substance, while Vicodin (Hydrocodone) is a Schedule 3 drug. Demerol (generic name Meperidine), being a Schedule 2 drug, is more tighty regulated - you cannot get refills, and each fill must be obtained with a new prescription each time. Also, many doctors don't like to prescribe Demerol because it's been associated with potential seizures. Personally I think it's that they're too chicken - I've used it for years with no problem.

Vicodin, being a Schedule 3 drug, can have refills on one prescription and isn't as tightly regulated, and is more often prescribed for most acute pain patients.

Pharmacologically, they're both morphine derivatives, though Demerol is a lot stronger. It's also more often given as an injectable or through an IV stream when a person is in the hospital.
