I am not a plumber, but am in the process of installing a water line myself...and all of the research I have done says the water line should be hooked up to the cold water.

I really like Coca-Cola. And we are doing a school project where we all have to make an invention. And I hate how whenever I go to Sonic, and I order my Cola, they always put ince in it. And if I put it in my frigde, or even just leave it out, the ice melts, and then the flavor of my Cola is all watery because the ice melted. So what I am doing, is making an invention that can make your drink, into the ice cubes so that even after the cubes melt, it still tastes like my Coke. So I need to know one thing before I pour a cup of Coca-Cola into my ice machine, I need to know, will this mess up my ice-maker? My mom and I are thinking that the sugar in the Cola might clog up the Ice Machine. PLEASE! Help me.

If you pour Coke into your ice maker, you'll need to make sure the water to your ice maker is turned off. Once the ice maker has emptied of ice you can pour the Coke into the ice maker. Once the Coke is frozen, the ice maker will automatically empty. Then you can keep pouring Coke or whatever liquid you want into the ice maker every time it has harvested the ice.

This type of problem could be caused by the water valve or the temperature in the freezer. If the temperature gets above 5 degrees, the ice-maker production will start slowing down. If the temperature is all right, to determine if the ice-maker or water valve is the problem, the ice-maker will need to be cycled. To cycle the ice-maker pull the front cover off and you will see some test terminals. Now place a well-insulated jumper between the T & H terminals. Be very careful this is a live check. This will cycle the icemaker and after the ejector has freed the cubes in the mold, remove the jumper. Towards the end of the cycle, it should fill with water for 7.5 seconds and get approx. 4.5 ounces of water. If the fill time is correct but the water fill is low, the water valve will need to be replaced. If the fill time is less, first try adjusting the water fill at the icemaker. If the cubes are still too small, the icemaker will need to be replaced. I would also suggest getting a qualified technician out to do the test.

Sometimes an ice maker will stop making ice. This tip could work to dislodge the ice. The cause could be a cube that has become lodged where it should not be. Unload the freezer (pain) and use a hair dryer directly pointed at the ice maker, on high heat, for about 20 minutes. This melts the lodged cube and the ice maker works again. The humming noise could be the ice cube preventing the mechanism that pushes the ice, to make place for more, from moving. Let a technician check out the cause of the problem though.
