What is the big intestines job in the digestive system?

The Large Intestine (or Colon) is the preffered name of the "big intestine" and is ironically shorter than the small intestine (large=2.5m small=7m after death but a little shorter in life). The colon can be looked at in 4 sections the Ascending Colon, Transverse Colon, Descending Colon, and Sigmoid Colon. All these parts have roughly the same function, they absorb water from the waste material as well as hold the fecease until it ready to be released (to an extent). Along the full length of the colon are three muscles called the Teniae Coli which are shorter than the colon itself casuing ot to bunch up and exagerating the bulged effect often seen (the individual bulges are called Haustra). Basically the "big" intestine is more commonly reffered to as the Colon and its function is to absorb water (not nutrients) from the waste.

What would happen if most of the small intestine is removed?

You may not be able to absorb as many nutrients, as you would have.

The small intestine is responsible for the majority of absorption of nutrients. The specific effects of removing half depends on which part is removed. The small intestine is considered to be of 3 parts, the duodenum, the jejunum, and the ileum. Losing the jejunum would be particularly disastrous, but losing any half would run you a serious risk of malnutrition.

Other than a shortened digestive process in general (such as less time to absorb fats or water), absorption is generally section-specific. Most absorption occurs in the jejunum, which makes up most of the first half of the small intestine. (Exceptions to this are Iron and B12).

Almost 4 year old boy uses the potty to pee but will ask for a pull up to poop in and not poop in the potty even though that is where he tells you it is supposed to go?

if your son is not pooping on the potty then you tell him that he needs to if he asks for a pull-up don't give it to him and if he wears pull-ups get him underwear if he poops in them let him stay in the dirty underwear for about 5-10 minutes so he can understand that pooping in his pants isn't comfortable and then he will go on the potty

Does activia make you fart?

A number of products contain extra fiber, which will cause you to go to the bathroom more frequently. But in the case of Activia, it contains what are called "probiotics," and some people seem to have a bad reaction to them. One of the side effects can be diarrhea.

However, not everyone has that reaction, and some people have no problem eating this kind of yoghurt. If you find that you are experiencing such side effects as diarrhea, you should stop eating Activia, since it does not agree with you.

Can being on your period make you constipated?

Yes! This can be caused by hormones (especially the higher levels of progesterone you have during your period). It happens to me all the time. It's very normal. You can drink more water and eat more fiber. Just remember to increase fiber intake gradually. And also things like Advil can help. I also like to use a heating pad to help ease some of the discomfort.

Why is toilet paper clean after bowel movement?

Diet related - Occurs for me when I include a small portion of legumes in one of my daily meals on most days. A recent change in my diet is to include 2 teaspoons of coconut oil with my morning egg on toast. This also seems to have the same effect. I eat very little processed food and have reduced processed polyunsaturated oils in my diet. Vegetables or salad always included with mail meals.

How many farts do you have in your life?

Well, the average is about 14 a day, so if you live 75 years it's around 383250 farts in your life, give or take. Quite a lot.

Story 1) I fart about 3 times during my morning poop, once or twice during breakfast (depending on how many people are at the table with me), a few times between meals, I try not to fart during lunch cause i usually eat with other people but i will go to the bathroom right after or during lunch to relieve myself, then maybe once during dinner depending on what we eat (beans make me fart a little more than other things) and a few more before i go to bed. I'm sure I involuntarily fart while I am sleeping as well. So if you add that up you get at least 10 that i know of a day. So probably about 380,000 in my life. It would be more if I eat a lot of beans.

So it depends on your eating habits as well as how healthy you are. The less healthy you are the more you will fart. Some farts that you let out will be gradual and you will not notice cause they will be silent and have no smell.

Story 2) Hi, I'm Drake. Not the big singer Drake (aubrey). Haha.

Let me tell you how many times a day I fart.

When i wake up. Take a crap, I fart about once or twice. When I take my shower its usually once, (3) When im eating breakfast i get gassy easly. So, maybe 3 times a day. (6 farts so far) when im in the car alone ill fart to myself (7-8 times) At work ill usually fart alone, or with my buds. I fart about 3 times at work (10 farts) At lunch all let one go (11 farts) On the way home ill let one slide. At lunch if there's beans or chili i'll fart about 2 times. (13 now) and when i got to sleep I'll let one go! So about 14 or 15 times a day I'll fart!

So if you do live to 100 you'll fart. So i fart 1500 times a year (:

(Stories post little relevance to the question but can be taken for humor value.)
