if you use your iPod with the brightness at its extreme, you battery will die fast. if you use the internet or watch video, it will die faster because they take out a lot of juice. normally, if i'd set the brightness on low and if i don't really need the brightness, I'll just switch it off because you'd save a lot of power on that.
