IQ is a rating which compares a person's intelligence against the average for their age (or maybe their ethnic type, or gender, or background etc....)

An 'ordinary' person will, by definition, have an IQ of 100 - that is, they get the exact same score in a test as the average person of their age.

So, 103 is slightly above normal, but may be within what is known statistically as the 'margin of error' - which means that the actual figure may be within a certain range of the reported value. If that figure of 103 has a margin of error of 2, then the actual figure for your grandson's IQ could be anywhere between 101 and 105.

However, it's a good start for an eight-year-old, and a bit of gentle encouragement, and challenging toys and reading material, might well raise that value to something more noteworthy.

IQ is a measure of an individual's intelligence against the average for an age-group or other grouping of people, so an 'ordinary' person has (by definition) an IQ of 100. Anything above this is ahead of the average and anything below is under the average level.

That is really high for a 15 year old. However, how do you know that your IQ is 136? It cannot be determined by one test. The fact that you asked this question proves that your IQ is not 136 and must have got the wrong score. Obviously an IQ of 136 is really great without any questions even if you are over 20.

I think it is very ridiculous to think that you can raise ur IQ that high. I took the 'gifted' test in the fourth grade and my IQ was only 125.what a bummer. but I was nervous as heck and my councilor kept shoveling her knees.How terribly annoying!!! I have been wanting another chance for a really long time and when all my friends r in gifted I feel really stupid. Apparently I was only five points away from getting in. I could have gotten it but I was too nervous!!!! and I was over analyzing!!!!!!!!! I get another try at it this year.Thank the love of God and all things pure!!!!!! I am in Advanced reading and an advanced math class and my GPA is 4.0Al A's baby!!!!!!!!!But I still feel the need to prove to myself and every other teacher who has ever thought my intelligence was below average or that I was slightly stupid or a good student who can't seem to make it into a gifted program. I am trying to relax over the whole thing so that I don't flunk but I just read these articles saying that ur IQ most of the time does not change at all after the age of 11. I am scared as heck and I am worried I wont get in. What I have been doing is going on this website called Luminosity.I don't know how much it helps(if at all) but it is also a little fun and u keep track of ur improvement. Also I read a lot and I listen to classical music occasionally.(apparently people who listen to that all the time I mean ALL the time get a higher IQ.) I also practice by looking at different logic questions and things that would normally be asked on an IQ test. When I can find really good IQ tests I take them.(just for practice)at the end when it tells u to pay to get ur score I don't. even though I don't get my scores I still get to be reminded of what kinds of things I might find.

IQ tests take your age into account so IQ usually does not change as you age. An IQ of 133 is considered "gifted". However remember that IQ tests only measure one area of intelligence: Problem Solving/Logical Reasoning. There are eight areas of intelligence so if you have an average IQ, you can still be considered highly intelligent. Also, IQ tests can be inaccurate. Albert Einstein had an IQ of 160, and genius level is 150. If you really think about it, it's not that high considering how bright Albert Einstein really was.

Some schools would consider this as "Gifted". Generally 120-129 is in the superior range. I see it as five points more and you're in the classic gifted range. Good score.

A good IQ test is not age-dependent, so any score over 100 (which is average) would be, by definition, above average, irrespective of age.
