George's guardian angel in It's a Wonderful Life is: Clarence Oddbody.

The guardian angel (Clarence) jumps into the water, knowing that George Bailey will jump in and save him, rather than committing suicide by jumping into the freezing water to drown himself.

In the 1946 movie, Clarence Odbody was played by Henry Travers, and George Bailey was played by Jimmy Stewart.

His ear becomes infected after he dives into freezing water to save his little brother. He eventually goes deaf in that ear because of this. Later in the movie, hearing in this ear is restored when his guardian angel allows him to view the world as it would exist without him. The film doesn't make clear whether the restoration is permanent but it is often assumed to be so.

Zuzu is a variant on Suzanna or Susan. By the way- and I don"t think this has any connection to the movie you are curious about, Aunt Zusu was the Sister of the Mother of Veronica Bennett- according to Veronica- and the mother of Nedra Talley. She was more or less both the chaperone and vocal instructor for what was to become the Ronettes- they took voice lessons from Aunt Suzu- who would have been, maiden name Suzanne Miller if my theorizing is correct- Beatrice Miller married Louis Bennett ( a jazz Musician) and became Beatrice Bennett- mother of Veronica. so it goes.

I can't remember all of them myself but I do know Jimmy Stewart is the main character and wishes because his life is so full of agony and out of control that he is no longer here. Mary is his wife, Little Zulu is the daughter that gets a cold right before Christmas. Mr. Potter is the evil banker, there is Clarence the angel, and Bert the police officer, tony the bar tender...... I was trying to remember who brought Jimmy and his love Mary back to there house on there wedding night, but I think it was Bert the policeman. Awesome movie, I watch it every year at Christmas, except this past one......
