J C Higgins Firearms

The No. 16 (AKA Crack Shot) was manufactured from 1900-1913. It was msde in .22 and .32 Rimfire. These "Boy's Rifles" usually got a lot of use/abuse and are often found in less-than-poor condition. The Standard catalog suggests a retail value of $100 in Poor, $200 in Good, and $300 in Excellent condition. The .32 chambering is probably scarcer, but does not earn a premium. Also makes it practically useless since .32 rimfire ammunition is no longer commercially available and rimfire cartridges are not re-loadable.

the closest i can find is a 101.20, 101.22, and 101.25. all were made my savage arms for sears. the 101.20 is a model 15. a very early single shot bolt action .22 very common. the second is a 87m and the third is a 39a bolt action shotgun. double check your numbers and post again if you need more info good luck

My cross-reference list says this is actually a Harrington & Richardson Model 120. Sears Roebuck sold firearms with the J.C. Higgins brand name from the 1940's into the 1960's or later.

H&R only produced the Model 120 during 1941 and 1942.

Hi you may not ever find a bolt for that shotgun there was a recall on some of the 12ga JC Higgins and all you had to do was send in the bolt and sears sent you $165 so that's may be why it has no bolt now

Sears was paying Ted Williams for the use of his name in the 1960's. To set a value, go to Walmart and find a similar .410 shotgun (bolt action, pump, double barrel, single shot?). Your used gun should be worth 2/3 to 3/4 as much as the least expensive new one they are offering.

I believe that this model was made in the early 1960's. I have one and I have been told that depending on condition it's worth around $100-$200. If its in shambles but still fires it should be treasured as a family heirloom. Hope this helped.

Higgins was around until the 60's. * 583 on a Sears Roebuck gun means it was manufactured by Hi Standard, but I can't locate a reference for the .10. Bolt action shotguns aren't very popular, so I would say it is worth no more than $100.

Sears has a recall on some of their J C Higgins 12 ga and they will send you $165 just for the bolt if it is a bolt action shotgun. I had one and that's what they sent me.

I can tell you that the pump guns are a very close "copy" of the very fine Remington model 31's and are a joy to use. One of the smoothest pumps ever made. Very good quality and available for very little money on the used market $100 to $200 dollars will buy most of them, the J.C. Higgins version (model 20) made for Sears is also a sleeper

The JC Higgins was made Savage Stephens. It is basically the same as the Model 94 by Savage Stephens. It was made from 1937 to the 1980's and to give an exact date of manufacture is almost impossible because there aren't factory records available.

I have found them listed on the net for $100.00 - $160.00. All of these have been without the standard 4x scope. I purchased one at auction last night for $165.00 with scope in good condition. Kind of missed the one my dad had when I was a kid. Make sure the internal sling is ther and in working order, an inovation not seen on many rifles and a hell of a good idea.

your shotgun was made by high standard. high standard went out of business in 1984 due to some poor choices and poorer management. they are most noted for the .22 auto-loading pistols. they made a good solid firearm meant to last a lifetime or two. unfortunately there is no real interest in any other high standards than the pistols. it is a good shotgun that will serve you well in the field or home. thanks good luck

Most all shotguns are loaded by "breaking the barrel(s) open, particularly double barrels.

Do you mean "Nylon" or possibly teonite. Stevens put a teonite stock on model 5100's (I know, I purchased one in July, 1947 in Beaumont, Texas) right after the war was over.
