You can buy a John Deere tractor in Memphis, Tennessee at the local tractor dealer. Since Memphis, Tennessee is located in the south, it will be very easy to locate a John Deere.

The snow plow attachment is purchased separately from the John Deere tractor. You can buy the plow attachments at the Deere's website: www.deere.com/.

I just purchased a used STX38 and used it twice, the first time no problem, this time it seemed to be hot, I turned it off to talk with a neighbor and later when I tried to start it it would hum then tried to turn over but just a small try. Not sure what the problem is. Says it was made between 1988-1997, it has a Kohler 12.5 hp.

Not even sure now if the $300.00 I paid for it is worth it. I read that it has relay and ignition problems with this model, the ignition switch was replaced by the previous owner.

Type your answer here... my 165 did the same thing, clogged fuel filter. once I cleaned / replaced the filter it worked fine.

There's a yellow switch in the upper right hand portion of the dash. It's the PTO drive. Engage your clutch, pull up on the switch and move it forward, and that should start the blades spinning. If it fails to engage, it could be a bad switch or a bad battery.

You can not remove it, but you can change out the CDI box.

Yes it does. Most of the hoods from the John Deere tractors of that era are interchangeable. Here's a list of the hoods that will fit the 318:

200 series: 200, 208, 210, 212, 214, 216

Early 300 series: 300, 312, 314, 316 Kohler, 317

Late 300 series: 316 Onan, 318, 322, 330, 332

400 Series: 400, 420

The hoods for the 200 and early 300 series mowers are slightly different than the hoods for the late 300 series. They will all fit a 318, but the hood used for the late 300 series uses a different type of headlight lens than the hood on the 200 and early 300 series. The hood for the 200 and early 300's has a lens that just covers the front. The hood on the late 300's wraps around the front. Hope this helps!

When looking into buying a tractor you need to make sure it is of best quality for your farming needs. Look into getting the John Deere 4520 for large amounts of farming area.

If its diesel, get the gas out. Drain the tank. Fill with diesel. Loosen injector lines. Crank engine. When fuel squirts from injector tighten line. Crank and should start right up. <><><> For more information see the answer to the Related Question shown below.

There are many books on antique John Deere tractors. John Deere Tractors and Equipment is a book by Don MacMillan covers tractors produced from 1837-1959.

John Deere Gator is one of the all terrain utility vehicles. It can be used for entertainment or to travel rough roads.

On the injection pump gear are timing marks for 3,4 and 6 cylinder engines as the same gear is used in all the engines.

To time the pump align the mark with the correct number for the engine with the center of the crank shaft and the center of the injection pump center.

Timing should be 10 degrees before TDC on cylinder 1

The injection pump gear has 48 teeth with each tooth representing 7.73 degrees.

Remove the battery. Once it is out of the way you should be able to see a vent hose coming off the top of the transaxle. Remove the hose from the fitting and then unscrew the fitting from the transaxle. This is where you add the oil.
