Hi,
I don't know if they have been recalled yet so if you find out please let me know. My knee sucks. It hurts all the time, I get allot of fluid build up, and its so loose I can move my lower leg back and forth 3/4" and it makes a great deal of noise. I hope its recalled because if this is the best they have to offer they should stop offering it. I have had 26 surgeries now most being on my knees. 13 right and 8 left. I now have to have my left knee repaired and need to find out if there any mechanical problems associated with the Biomet Vanguard Knee.
Definitely go back to the doctors. There could be something wrong with the replacement. Book an appointment as soon as possible.
If the infection is live (you have shingles) hospitals will not operate. Any illness and/or infection which is effecting your general health causes higher risk of post operative issues.
Most people takes a while can take up to 1 year or less.
I have often heard about cortisone injections as an alternative to knee replacement but it is un heard of to have injection after the knee replacement.
What is the logic behind it?
Usually injections are taken to subside the pain that arise from contact of arthritic articular surfaces of knee bones.
But when knee replacement is already done I do not see a reason for cortisone injection.
At the same time if there is sudden severe pain in your knee after replacement surgery doctor might give you a shot of knee injection.
Another possibility is if you have partial knee replacement and non operated compartment of your knee joint troubling you.
Hope it helps.
It depends on how YOU take care of your new knee. It could last up to 15 years.
The factors that count are your weight, activities, like walking, swimming, biking are all good but you should avoid jarring activites like running, tennis (singles), snow skiiing, ice skating...discuss activities with your doctor. Due to the nature of the replacement wearing out at some point the medical people like to wait as long as possible with your age so that you will not have to go through a revision surgery, after the parts wear out.
The attune knee replacement is the newest innovated, type of knee replacement. The attune knee replacement is so good that is provides more mobility and it eases the unstable feeling most all patients have with any other type of knee replacement.
Yes and no. If cellulitus responds well to oral antibiotics then it is not serious. However if it does not respond then a course of IV antibiotics are required, which usually means a further hospital infection. If the cellulitus does not respond to IV antibiotics then this could cause septicemia and prove fatal particularly in those who have compromised immune systems
It's fine as long as your knee doesnt get massaged, and whatever feel painful tell them to stop. A massage sounds like a good idea to me too after knee surgery =]
Knee replacement, also called knee arthroplasty or total knee replacement, is a surgical procedure to resurface a knee damaged by arthritis.
Metal and plastic parts are used to cap the ends of the bones that form the knee joint, along with the kneecap.
In other words, Total knee replacement surgery or knee arthroplasty is a surgical procedure where parts of knee joints are replaced with artificial parts.

I had a bi lateral knee replacement 18 months ago, I can kneel. Some days it is more painful than others, but i still do it.
the majority of people are around 80% recovered by six weeks after the operation and will continue to improve over the following three to six months. The time taken in recovery is also affected by the state of health and the condition of the patient.
Because jumping puts stress on the knee. These activities include: tennis, badminton, contact sports (such as football, baseball), squash or racquetball, jumping, squats, skiing, or jogging. Do not do any heavy lifting (more than 40 lb) or weight lifting.
They are very painful!!!!! my grandma thinks it will never stop hurting. it has been 6 months and its still hurting her!!!!!! We're beginning to wonder if its worth it!!!
It is considered one of the more painful types of surgery. Most hip replacements are much easier to recover from. It will take at least a year to fully recover from such surgery.
Probably wouldn't be too smart. Try speed walking.
Yoy will be in Hospital for 5days, you will get a therapist to help you walk while in Hospital, this will take 2 to 3 days, once you get home, mild exercise that the doctor will prescribe, after 10 days, you can lose your cane if you have been using one, then it is clear sailing, after 6 months you will be in great shape and feel like a new person!
I wore mine for two weeks after both knees were replaced (at separate times.)
Titanium can form a chemical bond with bone, becoming integrated completely. Bone rejects most other elements.
