What is the most painful joint replacement?

User Avatar
I would say that any joint of the body can reach a point when it can get very painful indeed. And this is usually just before a replacement is considered. It is difficult to appreciate how debilitating and painful a joint can get until after it has been replaced if that was the only way to fix it. I for instance had an elbow replaced and never fully understood just how painful it was until after I was able to start using it properly again. So I would say it depends largely on each individual situation.

Can a dog survive hip fracture without surgery?

User Avatar
Yes, my dog had a hip fracture several years ago. I took her to the vet, and he said that it would be about $6000 to perform surgery and aftercare. He also stated that most dogs can heal on their own much easier than people, and would probably be OK in a couple of months if left untreated. In 3 months she was running and playing with our male dog, and no problems since.

Answer A hip or knee replacement would cost around $20,00o in the US. It is about $AU32.000 in Australia. for an elbow replacement if you are paying for it. Otherwise It only costs the initial fee to see the surgeon $AU180,00 you have the operation for free, another visit to get the stitches out a week later $au110.00, and another visit six weeks after that $AU180.00. What would cause a Jeep to wobble at low and high speed even after the U-Joints have been replaced and judders when making a u-turn and the brakes start pulsating after u-joint replacements?

User Avatar
I would check the condition of the tie rods and then the ball joints first. Jack up the front end of vehicle. Grab the wheel in the 9 and 3 o'clock position and the try to wiggle it back and forth. If there is substantial play then the tie rods are bad. Next grab the wheel in the 12 and 6 o'clock position and try to wiggle it. If it does then the ball joint are bad. Check that your wheel lugs tight also. The brake thing could be separate issue. Check how worn the brake pads are.

Why anti coagulant is used?

User Avatar
In certain conditions, such as cardiovascular disease or following joint replacement surgery, the danger of forming large clots in the blood stream is greater than the danger of bleeding. Larger clots can block blood flow altogether in major blood vessels-- the larger the vessel blocked, the more tissues supplied by it, and the more damage done. Leading to heart attack, stroke, pulmonary embolism, etc, large clots are more deadly and less treatable after the fact than the side effects of preventive anticoagulants.

Is it safe to fly before surgery?

User Avatar
According to information found in airline magazines, flying can contribute to the risk of DVT or deep vein thrombosis. Any sedentary state such as a long car or train ride can have similar risks. Exercises in your seat and getting up to walk around every so often can help. Medical tourism, that is traveling for the purpose of medical care, is on the rise from 500,000 US residents who traveled outside the US for medical care in 2007. Often far less expensive, patients who do their homework can see considerable savings without sacrificing quality care. Specialty insurance that covers Accidents, Sickness, Complications of Surgery and other valuable benefits is available for medical tourists whether they have major medical health insurance or not - so if you are medical tourist and a victim of DVT, there's coverage available that can help.
