Lord Krishna says that you give up the desires or cravings for material things. He further says that you have the same attitude in loss and gain. You do the work or deeds with by being in the state of yoga. The attitude of 'equality' towards the loss or gain, that you get is called as Yoga. (When the results of your actions are not in your hand, you will go mad as you do not get the desired results. So it is better to do the best and accept the results, open heartedly, with out any prejudice. Accepting the positive and negative results as 'equal' is called as Yoga. You have to do your work or deeds by being in the state of Yoga.) (World is not made to fallow your desires. Every body is free to do the deeds and go for his own conclusions about what you say. So accept the same in right spirit or sportingly. Not to fear the criticism or get elated by the positive results that fallow, for example!)

By Rukmini, Krsna had ten sons: Pradyumna, Carudesna, Sudesna, Carudeha, Sucaru, Carugupta, Bhadracaru, Carucandra, Vicaru and Caru. None of them were inferior in their qualities to their divine father, Lord Krsna. Similarly, His next wife, Mitravinda, had ten sons. They are as follows: Vrka, Harsa, Anila, Grdhra, Vardhana, Unnada, Mahamsa, Pavana, Vahni and Ksudhi. His next wife, Bhadra, had ten sons, of the names: Sangramajit, Brhatsena, Sura, Praharana, Arijit, Jaya, Subhadra, Vama, Ayur and Satyaka. In Bhagavad Gita Lord Krishna tells Arjuna to not think about Dharma (right and wrong) but instead concentrate on Karma (doing work for which he was born) properly in order to attain success.

As indicated in "Bhagavad Gita - The Song of God" , commentary by Swami Mukundananda, The primary message of the Bhagavad Gita is to remember God always and engage in His devotion whole-heartedly. In quick summary,

-Do your duty without attachment, sense of doer-ship and as a service to the Lord, without getting attached to results , taking favourable and non-favourable situations alike.

Another use was to protect Pariksit Maharaja in the womb, when Avatthama sent a brahmastra to kill him. Also, Bhaumasara demon was killed by Lord Sri Krishna's Sudarshana. City of Varanasi was burned down with Sudarshan during Paundraka demon episode. There are other usages as well.

Here you are referring to Bhagwatdgeeta, 2/28. Here Lord Krishna says that from long time you were not there as a born thing. For long time after your death, you will not be there. You are there as a living being for very short period only. Then why the Arjuna that you bother for this short term existence. ( It is not clear that where from you arise. You are like a point. The God is like the infinite space. May be the soul arise from the God only. May be it is going to merge into God only. You can not explain the love of the God for the soul in another way. You get separated from the God by way of your ego only.) Here the Lord Krishna is trying to convince the necessity of war to Arjuna. The Lord Krishna tried his level best to avoid the war. He told the Duryodhana, the head of Kaurawas to give only five villages for the Pandawas, Arjuna being one of them. So that Pandawas should be able to survive. The rest of the entire known land of the earth was to be taken over by the Duryodhana. The Duryodhana took the extreme view that he will not give the land that can be accommodated on the tip of the needle. God is against this type of extremist views. War is justified and is a must thing in that case.
