What was the significance of the KKK's hood?
The hood were pointy and it was white. That means that they think the white people are the top and the black people are not welcome to the club. When the black people usually see the pointy, white hat they would usually try to stay away from the KKK because they thought they would get abused by the KKK. But this days, if you wear a white, pointy hat in front of a black man, you wont be so happy after 5 min because it is a serious racist problem.

It seems to be because they believe they are superior like the Nazis also believed. They may think that what Hitler did in his reign of genocide against several ethnic groups was the way they would do things too. But it is very hard to understand why people who discriminate and generalize tend to be that way. It may be because that is what influential adults taught them to do when they were innocent children. They believe what they have been told and continue to practice hate because they think that is the way everyone does things. A sad cycle that is hard to break as they teach it to their innocent children who teach it to their innocent children because when they were innocent children that is what they were taught.

The KKK has never liked the Catholic Church, but became even more vocal about its opposition upon its resurgence in the early 20th century. Reasons for the Klan's anti-Catholicism stems from both social and religious reasons. Historically, the Klan has Protestant roots, from which it takes the more radical views on Catholicism. The KKK considers the pope a Roman dictator, placing itself before God. As well, Catholicism is notorious for its multi-culturalism, another mark against it. Socially, many of the immigrants coming to America were Catholics, whom the Klan felt were taking jobs away from Americans and hence were undesirables. In 1974, faced with dwindling popularity and numbers, David Duke made a milestone, shifting Klan policy by opening Klan membership to Roman Catholics provided they were white.

Nathan Bedford Forrest, a Confederate general officer, is generally considered to be the founder of the Klan. At times the more traditional spelling Clan- originally Scottish and meaning a family or tribe- like the Mclellan CLAN, etc. The father of the novelist Robert ( I think) Dixon was a KKK officer. (he had also been a confederate trooper) Dixon is best known for his novel, The Clansman, which was later Retitled (The Birth of A Nation) and made into a famous and controversial historical film circa l9l5. It is fairly obvious that George Wallace was a white-sheet man. Interestingly enough there is no truth to the very popular misunderstanding- as he was the best-known Rebel General, that Robert E. Lee founded the KKK or was a primary member or organizer, neither is true. there may have been chapters named in his honor but that is not the same thing.
