Depends on which engine you have. My "Standard Catalog of Ford 1903 - 1990" indicates you could have either a 302cid (5.0L) V8 or a 3.8L V6. My Haynes manual makes no mention of the V6, but indicates that the standard 302 has a 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 firing order. The HO version of the 302 is different: it's firing order is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8.

The doghouse should have two lever type clips on the side of the doghouse that you flip forward to unlock. The doghouse will also be bolted to the floor should be 4 to 6 bolts holding it to the floor. Peel the carpet back to find them if your van is carpeted.
Slide the doghouse back then and turn the seats, both passanger and drivers as well as move them as far back as you can. Pull up on the doghouse and twist and slide it out. It's a pain removing it but just keep twisting and and turning it until it comes out.
